I feel like banging my head against a brick wall

For the last 3years I have been constantly reporting a small number of ponies in a field, all belong to one owner.
I'm not someone who see's a slightly underweight horse and want's it removed asap, but they are the type that need removing asap or at least some good help, veterinary treatment and a farrier to try get them back to how they should be.

Iv'e rung whw, rspca and other local charities, Iv'e emailed pictures, Iv'e chased up each call but I get the same reply. Horses have hay and water.
Ponies all have heavy worms, no improvements even each summer with the spring grass. One has now passed away and the other two still look awful.

So my question is, how bad do horses really need to be for action to be taken?
Am ringing bhs in a bit for some more advice on how to try and get these ponies help but I feel like I'm going around in circles.

Shettie, have you made any attempt to contact the owner?

Without seeing the ponies, obviously it's hard to comment, but you are making repeated anonymous reports to charities, using their time and resources each time, when they appear to think there isn't a problem.

I'm sure the owner is not happy with being repeatedly called by these charities. If the ponies were mine, I would want to speak directly to anyone who believes there was a problem. Perhaps you're right and can help / advise, or maybe they do things differently to the way you would do them for a good reason.

In any event you should be prepared to speak to them face to face.

I have spoken to the owner for the last 4years and so have many other people surrounding us.

I can message pictures to you, but not too keen to put them up on here. If I get no luck from the bhs I will stop calling, but having had horses and rescues for years, I am certain I am not wasting time and sadly see them suffering everyday.

How distressing for you.

Hope you get some advice from BHS, they certainly seem to say on their Facebook page that they will try and assist in cases like you quote.

It is awful that the charities are so powerless to help horses when they are neglected and have to wait for them to be starved before they can act.
