i have decided that my farrier simply has to go i am really not happy with my boys feet his front feet look like they from two different horses. so he will be going bare foot for a few weeks and got a new farrier to hopefully sort him out i have requested several times for current farrier to try help my boy and same old s***. i should have done this sooner but better late than never ay will take some pics later

I would ditch the farrier - sounds crap. With the ligament injuries especially your horse needs to be shod properly.

Obviously you have your reasons for finding a new farrier, but not having 'matching' feet isn't necessarily a problem in itself.

My boy has mismatched front feet, I expect he has had this since birth, and it is ONLY when a farrier tries to make the feet match (by trying to make the boxy foot 'spread' for example) that we have ever had problems.. You need to shoe according to the horse's conformation and although matching feet are the 'ideal' they are not always a realistic aim for every horse.

Good luck x

his feet were always fine when young (no shoes) well one front heal is low to ground other one is about half inch higher they quite odd to look at it might not be his feet but i'm not happy with how they look but i'm no farrier so am getting a second opinion tomorrow as 2 main reasons for check ligaments are confirmation and foot balance his confirmation is good so just ruling out possible things that contributed to injuries will take pics tomoro

One hoof growing more upright 'boxy' is often a muscular issue as the hoof grows to support it. It's something to bear in mind for the future:)

Not necessarily

Schoko's (friend's horse) left front was boxy. I believe he was born boxy though. After farrier's trying to correct it, he developed navicular.

The rehabbed him BF and (after some bodywork) both hooves now grow evenly.
