I did bounce eventually, I was hanging on to the reins for a while as I knew he'd b***er off. Thankfully David Merrett caught him, legged me up and made me go back to where I came off to restart! Watching it on the vid he should have stopped really: I was on a good stride but then he looked in the ditch, put another little one in, went up steeply, came down even more steeply and just pecked in the ditch. Bless him, I got on and he did all the other scary stuff really well, then ran out at the narrow thing with the banner on two from home. And not only did he run out once, but he ran out twice! I think his tiny little Irish brain was full to bursting and he just couldn't take any more.
Hey ho, it was certainly a meaty novice and probably not the best for a first timer.
Hector was fab though, after 8 months of not competing him I'd forgotten how good he can feel.
Think I'll happily enter Rolleston now and crack on with trying to get to Blair**.
We though the course was quite kind after Brigstock. LD certainly liked corner fences this time with the double at 9 and the pale ones on the bumpy ground as well. Lots of ditches too, all very deep and black!
Fence 19 certainly caused a few stops. Bee though Willough was going to stop so she growled at her, turns out she was just sorting herself out ready for the drop, good pony that she is!
I did PN at Brigstock but heard the N was pretty tough. Fraser certainly did the rest of the ditches ok, I think he would have been ok at number 4 if it had been a bit later on in the course. I did think when I got back on whether the coffin was going to be a problem but not a bit of it!
