You're telling me that foxhounds wold have ripped the terrier apart straight away ?

No, but they'd have shaken it and could well have broken its neck. A terrier is small, my Inuit stud dog is more than capable of killing a terrier if a bitch on heat was involved! A terrier is small in comparison with a fox so I don't understand why you are questioning the killing capacity of a pack of hounds?

Dont foxhounds work by snapping the back, thus killing instantly, not by ripping apart.

I wouldn't say they snap the back but they certainly rag around the neck and the throat, shaking the fox, which is a very quick death, the 'tearing from limb to limb' bit comes after, a sign of a good pack is unrecognisable quarry.

Did you know there is a difference between staghounds and Foxhounds?

But whether they would or would'nt rip it apart straight away is of no consequence.

It can be guessed at all day long.

There was no offence.

Hard to take isn't it ?

More that I'm questioning the lack of immediate killing capacity of a pack of hounds.

And of course I know the difference between foxhounds and staghounds.
The latter have antlers. Obvious, innit.

"Any one else there to witness this so claimed frenzied attack?"

So you think the lady in question did this to her own dog?.

What squashed it? Who knows?

I wasn't there, and neither were you.

She let the thing out, when the hounds were passing through. The hunt destroyed one bitch hound, paid her vets bill, and brought her a new terrier.

All in all, a very costly moment of carelessness on her part.

So what your in fact saying is that she let HER dog out, in HER garden, on HER property and it happens to get savaged by a bunch of hounds!.Her fault!!!!!!. C'mon soggy, How could that be her fault mate??.

No, though all accidents can be prevented. If the woman had control of her dog the hounds wouldn't have caught it. Swings and round abouts...we can play this forever...

To repeat what the magistrate said:

"The situation here is that the hounds were regularly on that land without objection from the Hodgsons and what happened was something wholly out of character, unforeseen and unpredicted.

"Dogs will be dogs and what happened then was an exceptional event."

If I had wanted to say it was her fault. I would have. Many factors could have contributed to the event. Her carelessness is just one of them.

QR.
My animals stay in when the hunt is about. I make it my buisness to know where the hunt are, and when. If i allow my cat (or dog if I had one) out and it gets savaged then tough titty, my own fault.

Normally i think you are a total wombat, but I've got to hand it to you xxkatyxx your logic there is spot on.

We have some ppl who come round with a dog. We hide our cat because it would kill it.

If you are going to let a pack of staghounds into your garden then locking up your pet dog first would seem a sensiblke responsible thing to do.
