Well I ain't going out in this!

Well I went out to put them out and it was dangerously windy. Things flying everywhere and doors slamming. So decided to muck them all out and hay them up again. They looked happy to stay in, so I have left them in. If the wind drops later, I will put them out for the night. But our fields have had so much rain on them they are waterlogged and slippy, so I don't want them out, galloping around and getting injured. They may have to stay in until the morning. I have never done this before, even in winter.

oh its horrible! anyone would think it was November not May!! was riding in drizzle last night, only been out for 10 minutes and the heavens opened, hail and all, ran in and waited 5 minutes for it to die down, went out again in the drizzle for another 10 minutes before it started again, so came in and gave up!! ergh!!

It's not so bad here, windy, a bit cold but no rain/hail.

But.................last week somebody crashed into my car while it was parked, took out my side mirror, scraped along the side and smashed the back side window (it's an estate) and didn't stop.

And the day before yesterday some little ***** ripped off my driver windscreen wiper.

I'm hoping the two incidents are unrelated otherwise I've got trouble from somebody and have no idea why or who.:(

Here in West Wales although dry it is horrendously windy .hard to walk against the wind!!!
There is lots of trees and stuff on the roads where folliage has come down .Not riding out in this !!!
This has gone on for 2 days now managed to lunge and free school yesterday in the school but today the wind is as strong but it is also colder so just fetched horses in and checked them fed the old boy then put out again.
3 are in light weights and the old T/B (25) Is in a middle weight .They have a barn open they can come into if they want to get out of the wind so seem happy enough out .
Just hope it calms down after 2 days continuously I am fed up with this .
Still we are lucky when you look at poor Oklahoma and their problems.

Been raining heavily all morning & windy with strong gusts, about 7 degrees here in Lincs. Mine are out in lightweights as I have no natural shelter & am on a hill!! May ride later if the promised lighter rain showers appear!

There are a couple of old sayings...

'Ne'er cast a clout till May be out'

or

"Button to chin, till May be in,
Cast not a clout till May be out"

"clout" be clothes or in particular your coat!

Last night two were out two where in at midnight I went and brought the out ones in they where miserable and desperate to get in better here tonight though.

I must be a horible human then! Bud's out naked in the rain, my justification is he has a tree to stand under! He seems quite happy out munching and it's 7 degrees so not massively cold, he has grease in his coat so he has some sort of waterproof! He hasn't melted just yet :D

Horrible here too - very windy and heavy showers, followed by 5 mins of blinding sun.

Rode 3 today, who were all very well behaved thank god, then waited on yard for farrier and just can't warm up now.

Will we EVER get a proper summer? Makes you wonder if it is all really worth it....

Ned's in a rainsheet and LW turnout...and he's STILL shivering!! Poor boy, I want to sit him in front of the fire :(

This is also the first time I have wimped out of poo picking the field!!

Vile here.

Turfed out, mucked out, did the field and chopped down all the weeds trying to earth my fencing this morning. Too soaked and cold to ride, and it wouldn't have done the field much good if I had

Oh well.

Ours were out as usual this morning, they were in their rain macs! Yesterday my aunties mare (horse is 19, arthritic and should know better) had hooned round in the field, more excited due to the wind, her rug slipped, horse spooked, ripped rug, back bit flew off and theres Skittles running round with what can only be described as a "horse scarf" round her neck! She's bad to catch at the best of times, eventually came in after several attempts and bribery! Sadly rug is no more and ended up in the bin!
