Well I did say that it was too good to be true....

Just thought I'd let you know that I tried my friends horse today - the one I might have been able to have on loan, that I could actually afford?

Well, what a disaster - I really tried to like it, I know how limited my options are at the moment, but the horse and I just did not get on. Really there was nothing wrong with him, but we just didn't 'click' - e.g. my hands are not good at the best of times, and he is really fussy on the flat? I just felt it would be endless frustration rather than fun

Never mind, I'm looking for somewhere cheaper to rent ATM so maybe that is the answer! Thanks so much for all your 'good luck' posts the other day, it was great

That's a shame as I know how excited you were about it all. Clearly it wasn't meant to be. My mother keeps saying "there's one out there with our name on it somewhere" and I guess it's true, and the same for you. Good luck with continuing your search

Be patient - something will come along when you least expect it. We have one horse between 2 of us an would love a second one.We have had a couple on loan and tried part-sharing with someone else in 2005 - didn't work. I have an option in the pipeline in a year's time, but in the meantime our YM has asked if I wud be interested in doing a bit with her mare. I have ridden her twice now and really like her. Only drawbak is that she's not kept at our yard - but it didn't take long today to go and pick her up in our trailer. On the plus side it means we have the enjoyment of having a dsecond horse without the full commitment of one! In the meantime, since there is no real cost invloved I am managing to save a little. Therefore if the horse I have in mind in a year's time doesn't click with us then I will have a tidy sum to go out and look for something. Have you thought about part loaning?

Part-loan would be an ideal option for me, but unfortunately I would also love to compete and everything I have found so far has not been suitable (e.g. ponies!)

Edited to say - oops, sorry, there is absolutely nothing wrong with ponies, they just couldn't carry my weight round an XC course! I may be short but I am quite wide

I do have a really good situation at my local yard ATM as there is a lovely horse there who is in for selling (and has been for a year now!) who I can have lessons on every week and hack out at the weekends occasionally - would love to buy/loan him but can't find anyone to share with and can't afford him on my own. For the time being I am just enjoying him while he is still there, and keeping my fingers crossed that no-one buys him! I guess if they do that tells me it was not meant to be

Never mind- even the top riders do not click with a lot of horses. If you did not get on with this horse there is simply no point.Always go with your gut feeling.
So hence I think that this means that you should have Ikor !!You clearly really like him- just go for it!

Now how do I persuade AV not to sell him to anyone until I find somewhere cheaper to rent and can afford to buy him......

I suppose I was lucky - It took me 3 months to find something! But I would say don't settle for something you're not happy with. Not only will you not enjoy it, but if the right horse comes along you will be busy with the wrong one... Just get out checking noticeboards etc and you'll be fine!! Good luck!

Wish you lived nearer to me, you could have shared my girl with me when I had her, she would have been perfect for you

I agree with Puppy, like I said in my PM to you, there is something out there and you really deserve it!!
