So we loaded her up - she went in like an angel - arrived - her old owner came to see her - and said she looked amazing

tacked up and the moment I was on board she was on her toes - this is the Donkey we are talking about (think Eeyore and you have my girl!!!) went down to the start of the meet and she went through the biggest water pool (horse in front that beat us at loads of showing classes last summer refused to go across

) she was so excited, lunged and stomped around for a while - then they broke us into two groups - Jumpers and maybe jumpers - well since I have not hunted for so long and hardly jumped the Donkey, who in the menage heaves herself over the smallest jump opted for the latter group (sorry Loopy-Laura). The master that took us was amazing, reassured us etc. Set off and the first gallop buck buck buck she was loving it, yet there was not a moment when I did not feel I had lost control - only a snaffle. Avoided the first few jumps then there was a log in front of us - she flew it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that was it we pretty much jumped everything!! she did not hesitate - she has a hell of a pop in her! By the end of the first run she was starting to run out of steam - she is such a sensible horse she does not run on adrenalin!!

Second run we had a good gallop - there was a fairly big fence so I declined, next gallop she really started to flag so I decieded to call it a day and went back with a girl whos pony had lost it's shoe.

All I can say is my girl looked after me completley, as did the Readyfield, Fred our master gave us leads over jumps I would never have considered and has really boosted my confidence! All I can say is roll on next Monday when I am going out with South Notts!!

Little sod though took a good 30 mins to load coming home - will have to take out the partition and see if she is better.

Today, went to catch one of the others for a very cold and wet hack, she came belting up the field to me, ready to go again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She is a super star

Oh I have so been waiting for this! I am incredibly proudof and happy for you - you so SO deserve to be out there having fun

Pssst she prob didn't want to load because she didn't want to go home!! I have a full width bar to use with only 1 horse as I am 100% they prefer it

wow - sounds like you had great fun. Bet you're glad you've got a sensible (if sometimes lazy) horse now eh?

Good stonkie girlie! xx

Brilliant, so pleased you had a good day!! And the loading afterwards is common when they are "revved" up...

Glad Fred looked after you!!

I am so glad you had a brilliant day and your girl was a star, bless her.
The loading problem is normal, she will be a little excited still, nothing to worry about.....
Fred is great, he does look after everyone really well.

Proud of you both.....

I got goosebumps reading that

Sounds an absolutely perfect day

and just like the transformation in Shrek...Donkey was NO MORE!
So when you going again?

That is fantastic! She sounds just like my boy on his first time out - normally very laid back but just came alive out hunting but feeling great and safe all the way. Well done on the jumping too - you are braver than me. I'm slightly worried on the loading aspect - I was able to hack back but hoping to go further afield next week and he's not the greatest loader at the best of times..
Anyway, well done - I am so pleased for you

Oh that is just such a wonderful thing to read!! Really made my morning reading that! Worth staying up to read about it!! Just what you needed too! You just gotta love the donkey - I'm getting my part-bred donkey back at the end of April

That made really lovely reading! Well done to both of you. Funny how hunting can really bring out the very best in some horses. It is the best education they can have, everything they need to learn is right there.
