My boy tried to bolt home with me yesterday!!!

He's been on box and small paddok rest for 6 months now and have started bringing him back into work, but vet says he's not allowed to be turned out in anything other than a tiny paddock until he is cantering.

He has been quite sharp to say the least (normally very even tempered) and we are up to 2hrs work including 20 mins trot now, so he is getting quite fit, but still not allowed to run about.

Anyway, a pony and trap trotted past us at about 90mph and my boy was v. scared and almost fell into the ditch. Calmed him down and carried on, then he must have turned round at the end of the road and came hurtling towards us!

B4 I get told off for taking him on the road, we were round our farm track, not actually on the road, but the track is only about 3m away and is fenced.

Well, my boy wasn't having any of it for a 2nd time and turned round and started legging it home!!! Luckily managed to stop after about 20 meters, but left us both a little shaken up!

Think his legs were ok as he only has another week till he is allowed to canter again!

Just had to tell someone really!!!

eek rather scarey but I am sure your boy is fine, most riding horses find pony and traps utterly terrifying it's never something I'd enjoy meeting hacking out.

Well done for coping with it as well as you did, personally I'd call it a total success.
