....and it was like riding a different horse.

I asked about them on here the other week as baron tends to feel a bit tense in the jaw, but has to wear something to keep it shut or he doesn't take proper contact.

Anyway borrowed one from my instructor on wed and put in on him today. He was working so nice, felt so much more relaxed. He was 100 times lighter in my hand. And best of all he did not tilt at the poll like he does most of the time in canter. Lovely outline aswell.

Just thought I would share as I would deffinatly reccomend that anyone who needs a flash should give a drop a go.

Cant wait to ride tomorrow now

our little welsh was ridden in a dutch gag on 2nd ring until instructor recommended a drop as pony was opening her gob.she is now back in a snaffle for every discipline that she does. older daughters horse also wears a drop and goes much better in it. ive also lent one to another livery to try on her boy but havnt had an update as to whether it has made a difference

kerilli I think it was you that inspired me to ask about them as you talk about them quite a bit when people ask bit/noseband questions.

The only thing I dont like is that it doesnt really break his face up, he has quite a big head and I usually have a very wide noseband on him. Suppose I will just have to get used to it though as he works so much better

I bought a drop for the KB bridle from Olney saddlery (before it was DH) and it was awful, its got a crank buckle on the back and really didn't fit my boy who has a fairly normal size/shape head!! It also seemed quite bulky at the back. Thats just my opinion tho, you may find its find with Godfrey horse!!!

I resorted to digging out a 'normal' bridle and bought a drop for that (as was inspired by my old trainer to use one!!!)

Hmm, was it a full sized one you got? Its just difficult finding one with the buckles on either side...would like to try a drop as a friend has been telling me it maybe just the thing for G...he can be a bit of a brat at times!! He has a square head, so may well be ok....

Kat - yes it was a full size as the KB bridles tend to come up a bit small. You may be ok with square headed horse (!!??), suppose you can but try. I use a normal cob size now and it fits really well and he works well in it, not sure why Albion don't do one without the crank noseband??
