Since I took a lame horse up to the vets- Although I do still feel like crying with despair!!! And yep, it's the good pony, not even Nora!
I posted on here a few weeks ago about having to withdraw him after dressage at Withington... I haven't succeeded in getting him sound, and everytime I looked at him it looked like a different leg
So waited for farrier, and then the earliest the vets could see him was today, so off he trundled for a two hour journey there..!
Pulled him off the box and the vets could see something infront almost instantly on a straight line... then lunged on a circle and most definitely bilaterally lame infront...
Vet really did like the horse though... he said how striking he was and that he was "built for the job" with a very nice attitude about him even to handle, like he was a really kind horse but with a big sense of humour
He said how well he moved behind too- Someone actually said my neurologically compromised horse moved well behind!
There were alot of horses there today, and "Because he liked him so much"
(or because we were the easiest to get rid of!) he wants to spend alot of time getting it right when he's less busy tomorrow morning... So left my boy there with his PJs
I really hate leaving them at the vets- though Arth has no trouble with B&B!
So can I please have vibes please that its nothing too serious tomorrow? We asked for a guess as to what it was- and guess what- coffin joints!!! Mind you, this horse did spend the first 8 years of his life with hind shoes on infront instead of the proper front quarter clip ones...
On the other hand, it explains those silly stops he's had this season that I've been blaming myself for switching off at... but then again that still might have been the issue
It's just a bit frustrating, I actually felt like I was starting to "click" with him and that he was going to be quite alot of fun!
I've booked Nora in for a few weeks with William Blane while I'm doing my exams just to keep her getting out and thinking forward every day which I won't be able to do...
So thats me horseless for a few months... If anyone wants a groom over the next few weeks I am not completely useless, and I am goin gto need my eventing fix! All my time over in the immediate future is going to be spent "revising", trawling through websites looking for a shiny new pony, and walking the monster out in hand... score
Just some pics of the boy (have permission) because he's so awesome...
