My boys are so well mannered - I love been around them, it makes it so much nicer when your horse has manners and you don't have to worry bout been pushed around or dragged to the field.
I went to the yard at 5am this morning and feed a yard of 14 (which i have 2 on) and didn't give one of my boys their breakfast as I was riding him. He didn't kick the door or even kick up a fuss, hes such a sweety. I then went to feed the other yard of 10 (which i have 1 on) and put him out and mucked stable out. Its just so lovely and worth while when horses behave, makes me feel like all the early mornings and late nights are worth it.
Sorry to rant - just a little proud moment this morning that made me realise why I bother!

a well-mannered horse is a joy to be around. You should be proud of yourself.

My two mares are sweet and gentle and can be taken anywhere by anybody. The youngster is getting there; he tries it on a bit, but it's coming together. Give him time.

i dont understand why anybody would want anything other than a well mannered horse!!!!!

They should never know they can be pushy with you otherwise they get naughty and pushy when you ride em!!!

I would never have a badly mannered horse. Even my 6month old foal who is extremly cheeky would never push over me or walk into me or drag!! Same with my stallion, hes a star too!!

I can't be bothered with badly mannered horses. Drives me nuts.

There are plenty of people out there who, for various reasons, don't REALISE their horses are bad mannered. They think nothing of their horses not standing still to be groomed, being dragged off when led, being used as an itching post etc etc. They just think it's normal. Then say it's 'lucky' you have well behaved horses'. No bloody luck involved - I TAUGHT them good manners, so they're nice to work with.

Your horses are well mannered because of good handling from yourself I have no doubt. Ours are really good too, because we put the work in. Always makes me smile when people say how lucky we are that they load well etc and aren't they easy to be around. Like they shouldn't be!

I know, i love been around my boys, iv had my welshy since a baby so i know his manners are down to me, i was just 'lucky' to get my tb of the tracks that was well mannered, I cant stand door kickers, head rubbers, etc. I appreciate it so much that my boys are good and when other horses are around with no manners i feel so proud my boys no how to act like prober little gentleman!
