My little terriers weight has crept up recently, he’s always been pretty trim. I’d put it down to a change in walking habits. Less free running due to harvest vehicles and muck spreading 🤢 we have been doing lead walks more often.

The kittens get fed either on the floor where the dogs know not to take their food, or if I’m not in the room up on a bit of worktop (away from where we make our food!)
They have an arrangement of baskets and breakfast bar seat to get up high enough.

I’ve just found Cecil dog on the bloody work top wolfing kitten food down!
I work in this space sometimes and he can’t get up on the seats without help!
I had no idea he’d worked out the basket staircase 😂
His face was a picture “ahhhh sh*t”

Guess I need to rethink that plan and get walking further!

Bless his little guilty face!

My terrier used to steal things, but she was never very good at hiding it. Her favourite was when OH used to leave his cycling bag by the door, which usually contained a chocolate bar. Thank goodness for me, she used to get that out of the bag and wait by the back door to go and bury it. She always looked so disappointed when I took it back.

my old JRT slept in the kitchen at night in a crate. It was open with a blanket over it and the kitchen door shut. One morning I found half a pound of butter mostly eaten. Next night I moved the crate to the middle of the kitchen so she couldn't jump on it to get on the worktop. All was well for a few weeks. Then I came down to find half a coffee cake eaten (all the icing gone and half the sponge). The drawers were old fashioned 5 narrow drawers with small handles. The moved easily on the runners. Not like the modern soft close ones. She'd pulled them open to form "steps" to the worktop! Terriers are super clever if they want something.
