I've just had a message from Charlie's new owner with a photo of him doing his first ODE at the weekend. She said he was a star and came 9th with just one down SJ and clear XC. He wasn't the right horse for me and I wasn't the right rider for him but I loved him dearly and it's so nice to see him doing so well and to know I didn't ruin him completely. I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself with this sciatica as, after riding for just 15 minutes on Sunday to do a dressage test for my riding club that I committed to before all this happened and couldn't find a replacement for, I've been in a lot of pain this week and it's really cheered me up to get good news about him.

It does make me a little bit sad though that Wiggy's owner doesn't get the same lift from seeing him out and about with me. She said it would be too hard to keep in touch. I totally respect that of course and realise everyone's different but I don't think I could cut ties completely. I have told her anytime she wants to get in touch, even if it's years down the line, she's welcome to.

That’s really nice for you to know he has fitted in well to his new home… sorry your sciatica is still a problem I assume you are having conversations with your GP or hospital
Yup, back to see the consultant on Monday. Pretty sure I'm headed for surgery 😢.

So glad to hear you have had lovely news about your ex-horse. I kept exchanging Christmas cards and letters with the previous owner of my first equine for 15 years, till he passed away. She wrote the most beautiful letters, I missed them when we sort of came to a natural stop.
i do hope your consultant can sort out your pain and hopefully alleviate it completely even if that does mean an operation
