Well I admire you for not criticising either the horse or the owner and whinging and moaning but accepting the criticism and taking responsibility for it. I doubt there are any decent riders out there who have not had similar said to them at one time or another, the difference between them and poorer riders is that they then use it as the motivation to go on and do somthing about it. You might not become the best rider in the world but we can all become better.
It woudl be easy to blame the owner for placing an unsuitable horse with you or blaming you, but as we all know, the owner is only trying to speak up for the horse and sometimes you dont know how something will work out in practice. Theres nothing worse than seeing a previously well schooled horse deteriorate so I guess thats where she was coming from.
Yes, it makes you feel horrible, but it happens to the best riders and at least you have the right attitude to it.
