Two or three F15 fighters having a mock dogfight directly overhead! Being in Norfolk the horses are pretty good if the occasional fast jet or low flying chinook goes over but I have never heard anything like this before - just heading back to the yard from a hack we heard them come over (just above the low cloud & so they obviously wouldn't have been able to see us either, even with our Hi-Vis), trouble is they stayed right overhead. The noise was phenomenal, we literally couldn't hear each other speak and we could feel the vibration of the afterburners - not the best feeling on a spooky WB. The horses were amazing, just got a bit jittery as the noise went on and on (apparently the horses back in the yard got really spooked). Never again will I believe him when he puts in a 180 degree spin at a horse eating blackbird!

I'm on the Norfolk border with Cambs and earlier today something I didn't even see came over so fast and low and loud that I fell over with shock, as did three of my neighbour's ponies as they panicked. There was a plane or planes playing overhead much higher and later on and all the horses that wouldn't normally have turned a hair were upset by it every time it seemed to be coming towards us (getting louder), with next doors youngsters going ballistic. Thankfully my big mare is very sensible, but after the earlier experience she was tense and twitching.

i have this regularly, usually a thurs afternoon, they stay in the area for a good hour coming and going, low to the point so you can see the pilot lol the noise is horrendus but i think it bothers me more than the horses!!! Found out that they use the slurry towers at the farm about a mile opposite me as a target !!!

Seems like they've been having fun today!

Think I'll stay in Norfolk - that sounds much worse (at least here they don't come that low!)

We get fantastic airshows quite often being in Lincs, sometimes everything in the house vibrates with the noise! The horses don't seem to bother much now although they did when we first moved here. Their first encounter was a Harrier at about 300 ft by the look of it straight over the paddock. I swear they all just stood with their mouths hanging open!

We're on Suffolk/Norfolk border & get the planes playing low overhead. Thankfully I missed them this afternoon - but heard from a friend that they were very noisy. We often get helicopters on Friday mornings too.

we have farnborough air show fly over our fields all weekend and none of the horses take any notice, they dont take any notice of low flying chinoks also the red arrows practice over our fields and alot of hot air balloons take flight near us... must be used to it i suppose :o

It's called the Thursday War - seriously;)
