I am utterly amazed :eek:

I went in with quite high hopes of finding jods, jacket and browband. I found a browband at least!

I waited ages, but that was ok, I mean, there was a lot of stuff for the poor woman to climb over!

It was just SO disorganised, there weren't any jods that fit me, and the jackets there were were covered in dust. I did, however get a browband for Bonnie, which is near enough in our colours (navy and burgundy, instead of navy and red, and brown leather instead of black) which will do fine one it has a touch up.

Unfortunately, I do regret my visit. While I would've spent more money somewhere like college farm, I feel stuff would've been cleaner and there actually might have been jodphurs to fit that weren't falling apart/way too small/ancient.

It was unlike anything I have ever seen. If you are prepared to rummage and wait a long time, you can come out with some amazing bargains! Next time Ill be going back to my usual tack shop, and I feel bad that I got my Dad to drive almost an hour and a half just for me to spend 2 quid on a browband. I also now stink to high heaven and am jumping in the shower as soon as I get home!

It was also an utter nightmare to find. The address you see on the web is completely wrong, it's best to just drive to Chorleywood and ring for directions.

I hope you all have better luck there than I did!

Hiya not sure where your based but, in Binfield Berkshire theres quite a good tackshop with a good second hand section, although the rugs is just a giant pile it is sort organized into sections and theres loads of showjackets. I got my daughter a aleaxander james tweed jcket(new there over £200) there for £50 and it was in verygood cond.. Its called Milwheel tackshop, they have a website. Other than that ebay is brill i sell and buy loads on there you can get everything. :)

Yep Milwheel is fab..used to get all my stuff there when I lived in Berks.
 
wow sounds scary lol do they have a ountrywide around where you live? they have great prices and sales all the time i got a lovely tweed jacket that was meant to be £90 for £60 they do all sorts of cream jhods for about £20 and lower for kids sizes also they do navy and black show jackets for £30-£40 and loads of other stuff sadly no velvet browbands grr needed one the other day :(

Well, it's like marmite, you either love it or hate it and I love it. I've only ever rummaged in the back room once and that was for some rubber boots that I found and got for a fiver.
A lot of used stuff she has out the back too.
 
I think with Catlips it just depends on what day you go - I went last weekend and got a really nice saddle, bridle and other bits. I got a good discount for exchanging my old bridle and Sheila gave me a nice leather girth for nothing as I was buying lots of other stuff. Although they don't always have everything you need, I still love the place.

We also have a Countrywide near us, and it's not very good - they rarely have anything I want, and if they do have an item, then they don't have my size. Several times they have also tried to charge a different price to what's on the price ticket.
 
I have been recommended to go to Catlips by several people on the yard when I first got my horse, well I found it just revolting there. I really enjoy horsie shopping, I can spend hours ooh and aaahing about all sorts at College farm and Patchetts shop and Decathlon but Catlips is utterly a disappointment. I wish they would section it out into new stuff that customers can take a look at themselves and old stuff and throw out things that are just plain rotten. Well, as the lady who works there, says, "It's not a shop, it's a cave".
