I love my Aigle wellies, could live in them all day long EXCEPT I can't find any socks that don't wriggle down and off while I am wearing them! They are too cosy to wear hiking socks, and I have tried tucking breeches/jeans into the socks, wearing them over thermal liners with a stirrup, dusting baby powder inside to reduce friction ............. but I still lose them inside the boot. Any tips or tricks that you guys have found to work please??

Sounds like one of life's unsolvable problems. What about velcro stuck to the boot, forcing the sock to remain on duty & not fall asleep on the job.

Is it because they are neoprene lined? I find that seems to make socks creep down.
Otherwise I wear knee high good quality ski socks all the time nowadays.😁

I have a similar problem with a pair of Cat steel toecap boots. I'd like to wear them more often, both up at the yard when I'm not riding, and out in the garden or in the forest when splitting wood. These are leather boots; they are unlined around the counter and the shaft, so the skin side of the leather grabs against my socks and pulls them down...

I’m pretty sure that socks aren’t made as well as they used to be as I have some old pairs that stay up and lots of new ones that always slip off! The only guaranteed way is to wear knee high socks!

Mine do exactly the same in my Le Chemeau wellies, probably also because I have fat calves. I find wearing thin knee high socks under my jods works. I used to wear those welly socks you can get that fold over the top of the welly but my feet get too hot in neoprene-lined wellies with those on. I don't bother with short socks and wellies any more because the socks always end up in a lump by my toes and I end up with blisters on my heels where they rub against the seam!

if wearing breeches use long socks over the breeches, if not wear a pair of tights under jeans and any socks go under the jeans. i have aigle and socks stay put until i take the boots off, then they slip down.

I love my Aigles but have the same problem. I think it’s the rubbery bit on the inside of the heel that causes it. Not sure what the purpose of this is.

I find that if I wear long socks pulled up over my breeches or jeans, they tend to stay put more.

I wear two thin pairs - short pair with jods tucked into them, then long pair of thin ski type socks overs the top right up to my knees. Then feet into aigles. I get sock creep right down to my toes if I don't do this.

do welly socks with fold over tops stay up or do you not have enough space.
I love heat holders but they are fairly bulky.

This happens to me in my Aigles but only my left foot! I put it down to it being a tiny bit smaller than my right. I also find it only happens with some of my socks which is weird as there’s no real pattern. It’s soooooo bloomin annoying though and one of life’s little challenges that remains just that!😏

I had another look, and it turns out they are Timberland "pro" range boots, to ASTM F2413-05 standard. If the picture below works, they look a lot like this:

What about garters to hold sodding socks up? Aigles used to open up and nip toes between sole and toe when going downhill but they seem to have sorted that!

Used to own a pair of Barbour wellies with no problems now have Le Chamaeu and can’t believe how badly fitted they are ?- I’m using insoles to combat the problem. Worth a punt?

I've had 3 pairs of Aigles and they all do this. I wear knee high socks over my jods/jeans and it solves the problem. If I'm wearing them and it's still quite warm I have some socks that have a thin foot and the leg is like tights so you don't over heat !

Yep, same problem with aigles, shame as they lasted years.
I've now bought some hunters ( hoping the 2 year guarantee works). Its bliss having my socks stay in place.
I tried all sorts of different socks, nothing helped.

I tuck my trousers into knee length socks and fold the socks down so they're thick around my ankles, this seems to help with my Aigles, my Le Chameaus were the same.
