I have used hunter balmoral classic wellies for years. They seem to last the longest but this pair are leaking after a month. I can’t actually see where the hole is and of course I must have deleted emails and can’t remember where I got them

looking for a new pair and everywhere is out of stock. What other wellies suit fat calves? I wear them daily all year so need to last. I can’t afford mega bucks.

Hi, I was also a Hunter Balmorals fan, but my last pair finally disintegrated after many years wear and tear, and I felt at the time there was a big difference in quality of the ones in the shop. So I went on the recommendation of the lady at the feed merchants and bought some of the men’s Muckboots.

They are the ones with the really decent tread and neoprene calf (so it’s stretchy if you need more room in the calf). Anyway, they’re great - although I’m between sizes 8&9 and the 9 is a little on the large size so thick socks are required!

ps. Just checked and I think mine are the Unisex Chore Classic

my calves are at last 15" if not more (I didn't dare measure cos its still lockdown!) and I recently bought Toggi's wanderer plus classic

They're very good. very comfortable and so far are holding up to the job in hand. And I Can fit my jeans/jods down them with no trouble.

I have 17.5" calf and I have just bought some Dirt boots, very similar to Muck boots snug and comfortable, were about £70 so hopefully if I get a year out of them I'll be happy!

Since this post I have trashed 2 pairs of wellies - the muck boot style ones lasted 6 months and some percusssion ones only 3 months - I have had enough of wellies and will be trying some Dedito short boots with gaiters now.
