Anyone else fed up with poor quality wellies.

I have always bought a certain brand but recently the quality has deteriorated.

Anyway I have been looking at alternatives.

Anyone got any suggestions for yard boots?

I want tall boots doesnt matter whether i can ride in them or not though would be preferable.

The big thing is they must be waterproof!!
Any suggestions of good ones or ones that are not good are gratefully accepted!

Thank guys x

I've always thought Hunters were good. My mum has a pair that have lasted her YEARS [no joke, like 10 years or something silly like that]. I have joules, but i dont usually wear mine much :/

Dubarrys are well nice thoughh, i want a pair when im older. But i dunno.

why is it that the boring-farmer-£10 ones last for years and the nice fancy ones don`t last more than a few weeks for me?

yeah, wellies are cr*p thease days. Mine only seem to last a matter of a few weeks and that's just doing normal yard stuff in them. The pair I have at the moment are the 4th replacement pair as I just keep taking them back! So far this pair have lasted me for 2 months but then we have been in the "summer" months. I think I might try a pair of the chameau ones next (Think that's what they are called) My advise? Keep your receipt and make the shop replace them for you!

I have a pair of leather Hunter 'shooting' boots (wellies

).

I have had them 4 winters, worn every day.....they still look new when I clean them up (apart from the occasional bramble scratch!).

They were expensive, but they are *so* warm, and seem to last very well!

Hunters or cheap wellies are the best ive been able to get my hands on so far, i've spent a fortune on joules and rydale wellies and they have all had holes in within a few weeks...not so good for working in the british weather!

I bought hunters at xmas and they lasted 3/4 months then broke down and now full of holes! I had a pair before that lasted me years but was really unimpressed with this pair!!!!!!!

Defo a fan of hunters but also the woof like thermal boots, really warm and you can ride in them. Not waterproof all the way up tho so depends how much puddle splashing you are doing!!

derby house do there own brand of thermal ones to, not sure what they are like tho.

just a note if you phone joules they will always replace them for you. I have joules wellies and allthough my last pair broke they were replaced free of charge and I didnt pay any postage etc. Hunters are pretty shoddy nowadays in my opinion, all my friends and people who work on the yard that do the same job as me have broken hunters after only a few months. While old hunters lasted years and for that price they should!!!!!

I've always had Hunters in the past and they've done me really well. Recently I've been doing a lot of yard work in them (on concrete, at work) and the soles split quite quickly. My next investment is going to be a pair of Le Chameaus - my mum found £200-worth of leather-lines Le Chameaus in a skip once and now swears by them! I'm going for the ones a tiny bit cheaper though!!

Ariat wellies are great, they have the same sole in them that the riding boots have so they are very supportive for your foot. Just great, much better than Hunters etc.

After years of buying Hunters and haveing freezing feet I splashed out (excuse the pun

) on a pair of Le Chameau wellies, I've had them about 5 years and they're fantastic, I wear them everyday in the winter and my feet are never cold. I have the vierzonord ones rather than the really, really expensive ones!

Funnily enough we were talking about wellies on the yard tonight as I was admiring a pair of Derby House boots one of the girls had on as my Hunters have split across the sole. She has hunters and hers split across the front. We were sure our old Hunters lasted years and years unlike the new pairs we have. She was saying how much she likes these DH boots and they are warm and have grip and are waterproof.

Yep, another one of the "Hunter's ain't what they used to be" club.
I bought a pair of Rydale wellies at Blair horse trials for a tenner and so far they seem ok.....

And another vote for "Hunters are rubbish now"

I have worn them for years and a pair used to last me several years minimum - now I am lucky if they last several months

I refuse to buy Joules ones though as my sister wears them

I've always had Hunters and have never had a problem...

But last year i brought a pair of the Fuchia colour from a large well-known sadderly near where i live, and they had a split in the heel so it would suck water in and make a annoying sound...anyway i took them back and got another pair, only for the same thing to happen. When i took this pair back the woman behind the counter refused to sell me another pair because 'of the problems i had had with them' WTF?! I was very angry - i just wanted a pair of pink wellies that didn't squelch!

Anyway, this year i am back on the quest for these fuchia Hunter wellies to go with my new pink Joules bobble hat!

Muckboot are good, my Hunters split across the base of the toes very quickly. Toggi neoprene ones are okay for summer, but very little tread. I've just worn for the first time today my new Aigle ones, with the red neoprene lining, wow they are fab! I had them on for about seven hours, and they were comfortable the whole time! I bought them because everyone who comes into our shop swears by them for warmth, comfort and lasting for years!

I have just bought a new pair of Chameau Vierzonord (£100) - they really are good, well worth the money. My OH has the same + the expensive shooting ones and says both are great too and he is a bit picky with his outdoor clothing..

Last pair lasted me years and I'm giving them to a friend to see if she can get them repaired because bar a small split they are fine - I was just too lazy to get them repaired myself

I've just bought a pair of CANE wellies (£30). They're furry inside & are a lovely light blue colour. They're very warm & comfy but as they're still new I'm not yet sure how they'll cope with a wet winter.
