Which wellies does everyone buy?

I am sick of buying wellies that split after just a few months. Hunter neoprene leaked after 6 months and recent pair of Joules wellies literally have big gaping splits on each ankle. I didn't expect hem to last very long but more than 2 months would have been nice.

I don't wear them all day, only in the mornings when walking he dog and then checking the horses but do drive on them (on the way to/from the stables) I'm not sure if this is what is causing them to split??

Grubbs Frostline. Warm, comfortable, waterproof. Had mine for over a year now, wear them all day once a week working on the yard and a couple of houra most days. Also commit the sin of driving in them.

I don't drive in wellies, as my horses are kept at home and the only time I might drive is to occasionally move the car to a different parking place. In the last few years I have tried Ryedale (£60, lasted about 2 months before leaking where sole joins the upper), Dublin (£60, lasted about 12 months, no longer in production), Aigle (£100, lasted 6 weeks) Asda (£14, lasted 3 months) Muckboots (£60, lasted about 6 months), Jules (£60, lasted 4 months). I want neoprene lined if at all possible. The Asda ones were an emergency buy in Spring, with no lining, so it's no use buying another pair of those.

I only wear mine on the yard so light use and I look after them. Last two pairs of Hunters only lasted 6 months(ish), both pairs perished at the ankles. Le Chameaus fell to bits within 3 months. The Muck boots I bought last winter and have barely worn have just split at the back of the ankles.

My old faithful green farmer gummy boots finally gave up the ghost when they were submerged in a ditch for over an hour with a pony variously standing on them or me kicking and squashing down thick reeds. They had done me 4 years of nigh on constant use. The soles were so thin there was no grip left but they were, until that fateful day in August, still 100% waterproof! The Harry Hall pair my mum gave me have just started leaking and they have only been worn since August.

Century from wellywarehouse. Made the way they used to make hunters, snug and slimline. I drive in mine and no cracks, they're supple and comfy

I've had a pair of Dunlop basic wellies (£9.99) for over a year, wear them at yard and walking the dog, and still waterproof with no splits.

I now use Dunlops with an added insole & not had any issues with them. I've used them at least once daily since the Spring & they are not showing any signs of wear.

Countrywide cheap green wellies, but I also slip a pair of gel insoles in. I live in wellies in the winter doing the horses & on the farm. Normally I can get 12 months use from 1 pair.

Le Chameaux normally last me a couple of years. Avoid Rydale wellies at all cost, mine developed large splits at the ankles after only a few wears.

The nobel outfitters ones are super comfy, and the foot is extremely hard wearing, sturdy and warm. Good stretch on the Water proof upper too.

Aigle neoprene par cours - £150 ish lasted over 4 years of daily use.

Mine are approaching their 6th birthday and are almost as good as new. I only paid about £80 for them as I found them in a sale on Amazon. They're a boring colour - brown - which is why I think they were reduced, might be worth keeping an eye out for them, especially if you're an odd size or happy to have a dull colour.

I have a pair of Le Chameaux - I wear them every day without fail, walking the dogs, at the stables, driving and they are great. Lovely and warm too.

Another vote for Le Chameau. I'm on my third pair and they usually last me 3/4 years. I don't ride in them but wear them for stable duties and dog walking. They are very comfortable and I can walk miles in them. I've never had a pair split. I have to replace them as eventually the rubber perishes and they start to slowly let in water when walking in long, wet grass.

Go into your local farm shop and buy the wellies that all the farmers buy. They abuse theirs and IMO what they wear dont go wrong. I got a pair of "farmer" wellies about 4 years ago and they're still going strong. Theyre nothing fancy, but are still totally waterproof with no splits etc. at all. Have lasted much longer than Hunters or other "horsey" type wellies.

I had Le Chameau wellies as a present nearly 2 years ago, they are neoprene so warm and so comfortable! I've worn them every day and they are still going strong. I'd thoroughly recommend!

Aigle Parcours ISO. Not cheap but they're so warm and comfy. I've had mine a few years now and they seem to be lasting much longer than previous Hunters (even the expensive Equestrian neoprene ones) which only lasted, on average 9-12 months.

OH tried Le Chameau but they leaked within 12 months too. He now has a pair of cheaper Aigles which are lasting him well too. I do use silicone spray on mine every now and again but don't really go overboard with looking after them.

Im another vote for dunlops :) i buy the fluffy soles to add into them which make them really cozy over winter. Still lasting strong as opposed to my hunters which lasted through a winter (just). As a last minute buy a couple years ago i got a pair of the cheep green mens wellies from shoezone (bought for a festival though ended up as yard boots) and to be honest for the money they were brilliant. I wore them every day for well over a year and was quite upset when the ankles finally started cracking on them.
