Can anyone recommend a decent pair of Wellington boots to wear through the winter around the yard it gets very muddy as im sure most do!!

Recently bought a pair of Le Chameau. I think they are the Vierzonord model, the ones with the full length zip & lined in leather. I don't think I'd have anything else now; I know they are expensive but keep in mind cost per wear, I don't like to cut corners when it comes to essentials as I use them every day without fail!

I get very irritated when things don't last for ever. Last 3 pairs of Hunters have managed 2 years each, which I wasn't terribly impressed with, so this time I bought a cheap pair that lasted 4 weeks and on a price per wear basis didn't work out so cheap after all! So I have just ordered myself another pair of Hunters. The cheap ones weren't very comfortable either.

I've got a pair of Aigle - the red neoprene lined ones - don't know the model. I was given them by my aunt at least 11 years ago as a birthday present and they are still going strong. No holes, no problems and because they are neoprene lined, they are much warmer than your average pair of wellies.

How does everyone get their neoprene lining to last so long. I like warm feet but I always find the seam in the neoprene at the heel splits at around a year. So even though the boots have no holes or leaks I have to bin them because the rough seam / hole starts eating holes in my socks (and feet!)

I'm with you, little_critter. My Muck Boots lasted about 4 months last winter before splitting at the back of the heel and I've just come to the conclusion that we must all have different gaits that wear the boots in different ways. I bought a pair of wellies for £12.95 from Countrywide and they lasted me all through last winter. I was fully prepared to just buy another pair each month when they inevitably split, but haven't needed to yet!

I have been looking at the puroforts - if you are female did you buy the women specific boots or the unisex ones?

mine are the unisex ones as they felt more comfortable for my feet. would recommend that you try the different ones out to see which fit best (got mine from local agri merchants so got to try them out)

I use a long shoe horn to put my wellies on which helps with keeping the inner in good condition.
