We spent a week at Yorkshire Riding Centre several years ago and loved it. We're thinking about taking another week long vacation in the UK (we live in the US) and heard about Wellington Riding. Any thoughts on how it compares to Yorkshire (i.e., quality of instructors, horses, facilities, etc.)? I show at your Novice level (1 meter high) eventing and my wife shows at our 4th level dressage. We'd also like to enjoy the downtime and know nothing about what's around Wellington to see and do. All comments and recommendations welcomed. Thanks.

Wellington RC is about 40 miles from London and just off the motorway(5 mins). So you could go to London and Windsor.Badminton is about 1 1/2 hrs if you came at the beginning of May. Oxford is also about 40 mins away.

I trained at Wellington and the horses and facilities are excellent. I don't believe they have adult accommodation on site but there are plenty of decent hotels around. As has been said already you have Windsor, Ascot, London and the South Coast all within easy reach via the motorway network.

facilities at welly are excellent and its very friendly. I only compete their occasionally but they are always so welcoming. Cant comment on yorkshire as not really experiened it but sure its just as good!!

I cannot comment on Wellington, but the last time I was at YRC it looked in dire need of some tlc. Don't get me wrong - the horses were in fantastic condition, just the facilities looked very tired.

when I was last there in june they had just built another outdoor school.

Both the indoors have excellant surfaces, my horse stays in a lovely american barn stable, automatic water.

sorry don't agree.

Most importantly the instruction is second to none

YRC looked very tired when I was there in June 08. I was booked to spend a week there but my Mum took me out after 3 days. She took me back to Talland which I highly recommend, it's run in a very professional way.
