After 6 years of constant wear my beloved Hunters have finally given up the ghost. I ended up with a very wet leg this morning hosing my wellies down!

I've heard that new ones are nowhere near as good as the older ones (damn wellies for becoming fashionable and making them mass produce them) so which wellies should I buy now please? I don't have many outdoor shops near me (just Countrywide and they only have Hunters and Joules) so can't really try them on before ordering online, so I need advice on which ones would suit me.

I have very wide feet and slightly wider than average calves, I just about fitted into Hunters. Pretty colours would be lovely as well - anything purple!

I love my Tay sport Muck boots! I think they are a bit ugly, but my feet are always toasty and dry. The neoprene top accomodates different calves and keeps the breeze out too! Mine have been hammered and still have heaps of wear left. You can get them in different colours and patterns too. These are some of them http://www.countryandgarden.co.uk/

Best wellies I've bought recently are Aigle Parcours ones. My calves are on the chunky side and these fit much better than Hunters as they have a split side. They are also extremely comfortable. Yes, they are more expensive than most (about £65 I think I paid) but they last a lot longer than cheap ones, so in the long run they're just as economical.

Nooooo so sorry for you. Had my hunters (made in scotland) 5 years, dreading the day they go. Anyhow new Hunters last about two years in my (my mothers) experience. OH got some nice Regatta ones the otherday. And Joules ones lasted quite well.

I gave up with Hunters years ago - kept falling apart

Picked up a pair of Toggi Wellies with neoprene lining for £25 from local show a few years ago and can't fault them, comfy, tough, warm and cheap. :D

I know I alsmost cried - they are my 3rd pair in about 15 years (outgrew first pair after about 2 years, so really 2nd pair in 13 years) and I love them. Part of me thinks I might just get the aubergine ones anyway as they only had blue and green when I bought my last pair and I've always wanted a nice colour!
I've seen them for £40 so if they last 2 years, £20 a year isn't bad and I can get a sensible pair then!

I have just bought some Dublin neoprene lined ones, and they are fab! Not pretty though...but i'll be the one laughing this year with toastie toes and dry feet!

Ive had 2 pairs of these and LOVED them for about 2 months each till the soles cracked and leaked.:( Both pairs did exactly the same  Ive now got muckboots and so far so good! Hope you have better luck than i did with the dublins!

I have the Mudruckers theyre great and last about 2 years with me wearing them every day all day (i work on a very busy yard). Cost about £50-60 but well worth it!!
Theyre also thermal so fabulous for the winter, i wouldnt use anything else!!

Can be found cheaper on ebay, and you can get the same boots that have a heel so you can ride in them as well!!

:)

Ariat mudbusters - I live in them - do the horses in them, ride in them, walk the dog in them - they are super warm and sooo comfy. I would never buy any others.

Yes, I've been told the mudbusters are good and a good fit for wide feet. I wish I could try them on somewhere first. Think I'll go and do a search for stockists.

My sisters £15 ones from homebase are on their 5th year!!! And she lives in them because they are pink!

My new "fashionable" hunters are on year no. 2 now and I have a hole in the heel :(

NOW NOT HAPPY AT ALL.
Have just gone up the shop in these and guess what wet foot. Have got a crack in the tread underneath Grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My new "fashionable" hunters are PANTS and have only done 18months!!!!!!!!!
Soooo unhappy.

Just searched on wellies and found this post my Aubergiene hunters are just over a year old and have split totally fed up with them. I used to have hunters last 5 years. Now not sure where to go but think I may look uo these muckboots and ariat.

Phoned up hunter customer services to be told what did I expect as Hunters are a fashion welly .... :( Mutter mutter grumble grumble.

Anyone tried the Toggi wellies?

I am another fan of 'Muck boot Co' wellies! I bought a nearly new pair off ebay and so far so good! I love them, they are warm and comfy.
I'd had enough of buying 'cheap' wellies and they only lasting a few months.
