Right, I want to get back to riding again by September-ish time. My pony is on loan with a friend & will be for the next 6 months & then will come back to being my sisters' pony as she is too much for me. She is too strong & too forward going. My confidence has taken a big knock due to not having ridden for a year approximately, I've never been a majorly confident rider anyway.
After reading another thread & speaking to Colleen_miss_Tom about the delightful Tommy (yes, I am jealous!
Although I am 23 I am seriously short at 4'11/5ft & weigh 7 stone. My weight is consistent & I like the idea of getting a Welsh pony.
I'm not into serious competing & if I did do any shows it would be M&M/in hand/& maybe some jumping although it is unlikely. I'm more of a happy hacker than anything.
I can't ride really wide horses/ponies due to having my hips replaced about 5 years ago & although I *can* ride wider animals it isn't comfortable.
Soooo, in light of the above do you think it is possible to get away with a full up Welsh A? Or should I look at Sec B's instead? I was told by CMT that Sec A's are better natured as in they aren't so fizzy etc as B's but my main criteria is the pony is safe & a confidence giver. I don't mind the odd bit of jogging but need something steady all round. I know that applies to a lot more ponies than Welshies but I've always liked them & have heard good things about them, plus they are hardy & good doers so my mind is set on looking at that breed really.
Any experiences/advice/ideas etc welcome. I wouldn't be looking until early next year but would like to start thinking seriously about things now.
Thanks & sorry it is such an essay of a post!
