Anyone know of any successful showjumpers that are welsh cobs? *Have high hopes for the 2 babies!*

well my 12h2 was welsh cob cross arab but mostly cob and whats the phrase about arabs not being able to jump!?!?

Well he jumped small JA tracks and jumped 1m50 in a puissance with ability to go higher.

Trying to think if Scorcerer's apprentice is a welshie or not, I think he is and he has been on HPI teams and done the BIG JA classes, as well as being stunning! he then jumped in senior 1m20+ classes as well when Sam was too old for pony classes.

A friends mum (this is going back years now!) had a welsh cob called Welsh Wonder I think who I'm sure she jumped seniors with (I remmber her telling me about how she best David Broom(e?), I think it was, into 3rd place in a knock-out).

My mare is a WC x dales, these are a few from outings a couple of years ago...
She's just over 14.3hh

Wings in this are 6ft, I couldn't ride at the time so she did without me

At the mo she's confined to flatwork, hope to get her jumping at the back end of the year on soft surfaces...

my welsh cob (chestnut in sig) is 14.2 just broken him in and the other day he jumped my 5ft barbwire fence wearing a rug that was too small for him (1. hate barb wire fencing and 2. forgot his rug so but my mares on him) and a while back he jumped my 5 bar gate and finally he jumps my 4ft electric fence every day on his own accord for no reason lol(caught him at it a few times) so i think he might be able to jump you know !

I have seen a few welshes doing well in BSJA circuit (juniors).
My welsh sec d has beaten a local JA in a local fun class at 4ft 6.He has an amazing pop its his brain that lets him down - he would jump fine for 3/6 months then just say na not doing it anymore, give him a break then same thing again!!
I always think welshies and cobs are underated they have a lot of power in those big back ends of theirs!!

LOL!!
Maybe cos daughter into jumping tend to just see them in that enviroment.Used to be one cracking one on the circuit! He was a dude.
Still think most are very capable its their heads that need looking at!!Well my one def!

He has what one would politely say 'heaps of character'!

mine used to clear 3ft with 6 inches to spare from a dodgy stride - i never asked him to go any higher because of his age and my confidence and his dramatic ability to run out and ditch me into the fence at the last minute, but he certainly had plenty of spring in him.

My old cob was a coloured cobb, but was as coby as they come! He used to jump out of his field over a 5bar iron gate for fun, jumped HUGE hedges out hunting and gave the most AMAZING feeling over a fence. Cobs are ace!

Wow! Sounds promising then! We've a little colt and a filly hoping the colt will make 15.1hh ish and the filly probably around 14.3hh given the height of their mums and the dad! Plan to showjump one or both of them eventually and BSJA just wondered if it was likely they'd be able to compete at that level and going on the above...hopefully!!

Lol my welsh cob mare Holly is not so keen on jumping herself she's only about 14hh and tends to ping them she's better now but i've only ever jumped her up to about 2ft 6 in a course! Shes not the most comfortable jumper! Although we have loose jumped her about 3ft 6 spread so i know she can do it!

Mine! He's a little star. Got him from a riding school because he was "a danger to others" and was "unsafe to ride outside" and now he's winning most classes he jumps in and we've jumped up to 1m15cm before I went away this summer and he got laminitis. But it'll be back to hard work again this winter

My 13.3 Welsh Cob would SJ 1.15m.

He was bought for meat money and you couldn't always persuade him that he was "safe" going into the ring but if you could get him happy to go in he was amazing and very very fast.

When my daughter took him to her first ever show she was only confident jumping 18 inches, and had sworn only to have a go at the minimus. He was so good for her that by the end of the day she'd taken him round a 2'9" course - and been placed.

I know it's not a big jump but this was them clearing the last in her first ever proper SJ round - clear and then they went clear in the jump off!

My god daughter has just bought an ex JA Welsh Cob gelding. He jumped internationally and won over £2k.

I call him her Welsh Dragon as he puffs and snorts and is compact and muscley....gorgeous!!

he's not successful, he has only done local shows. but my loan horse is a cob X Tb (alot more cob though) and has only really been ridden since march, and is coming on a long way, took me to my first show in august and collected me a 3rd in minimus and a clear round rosette! he didnt like the novice novice but he'd never seen such brightly coloured jumps!

in novice novice (look at the air he's given it!)
