I have currently got a section d mare who is 5 year old approx 14.2. she is show quality but i have never bothered.
Her previous owner had her poping over small coloured fences and she will pop over a log when out hacking.i am thinking of selling her butwhat would you say a fair price for her? Forgot to say she is very easy to handle in and out of stable/ farrier etc.

Hi i sold a 14.3 hh show quality 7yr old black mare that hadnt shown but was ride and drive and had a hell of a jump on it for 2850, i also sold a 15hh 5yr old bay gelding who i had shown lightly done few dressage test with nicely schooled and pop around a 2'6'' showjumping ( though had jumped bigger at home) for 3500 but that included saddle and rug so i suppose he went for just over 3k both where good in traffic mare probably bit sharper than gelding but both quite and honest and good to handle so i would say between 2k - 3k the bigger ones tend to go for a bit more , with all horses though they are only worth what someone is willing to pay!! sometimes your lucky and get more but temprement is key and the quieter the easier to sell usually

I have a 14.2hh 19 yrs old welsh cob. she has been riden all her life in shows and also in a riding school. a year ago she developed arthritis in her back coffin joint and is still rideable but is sometimes a bit lame. i am over 14st in weight at the moment, but do not intend to be for long and would like an opinion on whether i should loose some weight before carrying on riding. i feel like iam to heavy but some people tell me i am not and would like a majority vote as i dont want to make her pain worse?

How is she bred? If she's show quality they can make mega bucks, not my cup of tea and worthless to me therefore I couldn't price her but I hunted a newly broken gelding for one of our masters last season and he made 6k at the sales yet was green as grass.

If she is registered and has decent breeding have you thought about putting her in a WPCS sale. They can go for a lot of money and if you market her before hand and offer her for viewing prior to the sale she may well go to a home where you have already met the new owner. On the downside they may not think that she is worth as much as someone who is going on her performance on sale day.
