Im sitting having a nosey at my mares passport and was wondering if anyone knew anything about welsh D breeding. There is a lot of llanarth and quite a few Scole. Is that good bad or indifferent?
Llanarth is Len Bigley's breed line, as well as fronarth... In my opinion the BEST section D line. Stocky old fashioned type... Google 'Llanarth flying comet' which was, i believe his foundation stallion
Ooooo thats exciting maybe my pony is posher than I thought. I will google away now. She also has "Nebo Black magic" a few generations ago.
Alot of welsh stem back to Nebo lines, he was a very popular lad. LOL![]()
Welsh Cobs with Nebo Black Magic in the breeding are two a penny...like Binky01 said he was a VERY popular stallion!
Llanarth is a very popular, successful breeding line...not a breed line I generally get on with but they have some very nice cobs![]()
Im curious why do you not get on with them?
Are you saying my boy is commonHow very dare you!!!!!!
Well I certainly can't speak for all of them, but in my experience the Llanarth bred cobs I've dealt with have all had quite firey temperaments, whilst I think they are fabulous, especially in the show ring, I just don't seem to get on with them![]()
Ooo Yes Ebbw Victor is a very good stamp indeed
Thorneyside X Thorneyside bonkers...really? The Welsh Cob has some Thorneyside on his sires side...I've always found Thorneyside to be good solid cobs with a nice even temperament. Just goes to show one persons experience of a blood line can be totally different to another
Whilst we're here full of welsh enthusiasts....

What about them?![]()
I think all welshes have nebo black magic in them my lad has him on both sides, he also has a llanarth as his sire and most llanarth cobs seem to be chunkier
I would say modern Llanarth cobs seem to to lighter on bone
