What would you show a welsh D 3yr old gelding in?
A bitted inhand bridle (snaffle) with a chain and leather lead or a white halter?

His class isnt till July but wanted to prep for it :)

Good luck, I'm sure you'll do well. Hopefully he won't be too silly, but wouldn't be a true Welsh if he wasn't a little cheeky lol. :)

Personally I prefer geldings in in-hand bridles but it's what ever suits your horse. Some suit the white halter better than an in-hand bridle. If you have both try them and see.

Thank you.
He should look quite good by the time July comes round. His weight is picking up nicely now Dr Green has showed its face

He's very dark brown although he does look black (he's in my sig!) so am thinking the white halter will suit him. Will try both :)

Personally, through experience, I would go for the bridle. I showed my Welsh D inhand last year as a 3 yo in a white rope halter and although he was fine I never felt 100% safe. Now Im showing him in a bridle. TBH most of the 3+ year olds I've seen have been bridled.
Maybe rethink if he has any teething issues though.

I always thought white halter correct, apart from for stallions?
The breeder told us to show ours in halter, though she is a mare, not gelding, but he said only stallions in bridles?
Photo of mine, in halter, though not the best photographer in me, in my top album on my profile page.

As a 3yo it is acceptable to show in a white halter, leather halter or show bridle. 4 yo + is as above plus ridden bridle. 2/3 yo colts and stallions must be bridled/bitted.
If you want to try my white rope halter out PM me before buying one as I have no need for it :)
