Welsh D owners please help!

I know he isn't county standard for sure.... I just want to working hunter him, fun rides, fun showing really nothing serious as im past all that its all about having fun with him and me, jumping would be good too, sponsored rides etc and lots of good hacking.

I just adore his face he looks such a poppet, I personally believe his bum will fill out once he matures and lots of work to improve this, he will get a good topline, sort the belly out too lol, quick tidy up I can see potential in him for doing what I want really.

Thanks guys, will let you know if I proceed or not with him.

If your looking to do all of the above then a Section d, is to me, one of the most versatile horses in the world.
Ask if he has WPCS passport for start, that gives blood lines and will also state if pure or part-bred.
Also check out their website - full of information as to type, conformation etc. WPCS do run performance awards for disciplines other than showing. If you wanted to go down the showing route then they also do Millcroft gelding award to promote the gelding as these boys are quite often overlooked against a stallion/colt or nice looking filly.

Hopefully you can pick up this link- its one of my favourites just to show theres more to welsh than just showing !!

I am going to be visiting said horse soon (I know the seller) it's not a rush sell either but will be going to try him out and look at him, we've already spoken money terms etc etc..

I think he will be just what I am after he has loads of character by all accounts and loves cuddles and is little bit cheeky with it, yet still requires some work putting into him being only turned 5.

Can't wait to go view him now, if I like him he will be coming home (once I find somewhere nice for him to go) - struggling with this bit :( :(
so if anyone knows of any lovely yards doesn't have to be big place, so long as he gets company being turned out and possibly live out all year - he's used to this but is equally happy coming into stable, I'd ideally like to let him live out at least til bleak winter arrives somewhere where we can get to know each other have some fun and go out and about with company. :)
I am in Colchester area of Essex should anyone know of any places

So will keep you all posted about this lad, but I think deep down he will be coming home once I find him a home that is lol :D :D :D :D I don't care if he's not to county show standard as I just want a horse to love, spoil have fun with and do some more WH XC courses :D :D

Watch this space I guess.................

I'm not great with confirmation but he looks lovely! He looks a bit like my previous boy, who did well at local level showing and we also did a few shows that were not proper county shows, but were quite a bit higher than local level, where we also did ok. We had lots of fun doing all pony club and riding club activities too. Mine kept filling out until around 6 so I definitely think he has some more maturing to do and my boys paces also greatly improved with good schooling and me riding properly, hard work but worth it! :)

Im all ready for the hard work side of things with him def, he has some filling out to do and needs to get that bum muscled up nicely too :) I reckon he has the makings of a fab little horse that would suit me well.

Are you going to get another horse? Seems only weeks since you gave Toby up?

Yes after much deliberation and being a bit too silly in giving Toby up so soon, I am craving another horse, this time I am buying not loaning so will be different and Toby has a fab new home I still get to see him too when I want which is lovely.

I was too rash in my decision to end the agreement with Toby, I have a job so why the hell not get one?.

He's very nice but I agree that he's not county show standard at the moment but that could change with a year or two and some muscle over the rear end. At 5 he still has some filling out to do. The other thing to remember is that ridden Welsh showing in Essex and Kent is very competitive - there a lot of stunning Welsh Cobs in these areas...I know cos I spent years losing to them :D on my Nebo boy as he was too coarse (similar head to yours) and just couldn't come near them as far as movement and paces were concerned - this was at local level too. You need a very special gelding to beat the entires out in this area. Not a reason not to buy him but be careful if you really want to show...

But despite saying that a good D will do anything and everything that you want, they really are all terrain vehicles with a turbo button :) . Afterall showing is only a few weekends in the summer, you also need something that is fun and useful for the rest of the year IMO.
