Welsh D's and Dressage

Star, your new boy is the spit of my little mare - people always say she looks like a mini warmblood rather than a cob. Has he got a sprinkle of Section C in him?

sec C's are just small D's really. He has no C's in his lines though. He's pure D, all 15.3hh of him! He doesn't look that big as he's got big withers, but he's a tall, leggy thing! with attitude!

yup this is mine, he is nearly 17 has only been doing dressage a couple of years has found muscles he never knew he had!

My wifes D was pretty much a brood mare until we bought her as a 10yo happy hack.
Now 17 she has around 270BD points, regionals at all levels from prelim to medium and is soon to do her first Advanced.
Yep they can do dressage.

I think we had this topic not long ago but hey, I could look at these pics all day long there are some FAB horses here, so well done OP for asking the question again. Yes D's are great at dressage. Mine is also an old type D, very on the forehand and a "running" canter and welsh walk. However, after working on his shortcomings, and teaching him interesting things like lateral stuff, counter canter and changes to keep him sweet, the canter has improved beyond belief and he'll come off the forehand if I ride him correctly. The great thing about welshies is their intelligence and trainability, I've certainly found that of mine, he'd do anything to please, and heard it said of most others too

"Not the easiest to ride" - and I thought it was me (it probably is). Mind you the fact that the Pocket Rocket is a stallion may have something to do with it.
