Welsh D's

I love welshies! They are very cheap to run, have good feet in general (mine is barefoot with no trouble) but are very cheeky. Mine is quite laid back until he gets excited and then he is like a juggernaut on a mission! Loves to jump and is a great fun horse. However, I wouldn't recommend them to novices as they suss you out very quickly.

i have owned my 6yr old D for 18 months, boy does he have attitude, definatley Not for a novice, he is very very spooky, thinks everything is going to eat him up!! he is also nappy although with a lot of hard work he has got better, think he just lacks confidence, he makes big drama's out of nothing, snorts at most things even if weve been past the thing 10 times, argues back a lot (he dosn't like me telling him what to do i have to ask or we get into a battle) he is not a good doer(costs me a fortune in feed) shows of all the time, especially in front of strange horses!

on the plus side he can be very loving, very nosey u dont catch him he catches u, he is very playful and very handsome! so this is his excuse to be as naughty as possible...but i love him to pieces even though i could quite gladly strangle him at times!!LOL

Forgot to say, mine lives on fresh air lol in a dieting field but now moved onto hedgerow in desperation & in order to keep himself looking nice & wide! lol He also likes to be stubborn & argue, one smacked bottom too many & a warning tail swish turns to a buck! Haha

I've owned mine for 8 years. He is 17 now and has turned out to be the 'yard ride'. If anyone needs a babysitter on a hack he's your man. He can be ridden every day or once a week and his attitude is the same :) .

I wouldn't say they are a novice ride due to their quirky ways but once you have one, and build a trust, they just get under your skin.

I have in the past (due to frustration) put him up for sale, but when push came to shove I just couldn't sell him. I tried to share him, but was jealous when my sharer had her days with him, so that didn't last long. I tried to put him on loan to a very experienced rider who had a Sec D mare in foal and he sat down with her in the school, with her on his back, when she came to ride him!!

Anyone can ride him as long as they follow his rules. He loves his stable and would quite happily spend all day in it. He is a dream to hack and will plod along quite happily as long as you don't ask him to be brave and lead the hack. He rules the roost in the field but misses his field-mate like mad if he is taken away. He does the most wonderful dressage test, but has to be led into the arena in case there are tigers already in there. I could go on and on and on about his quirky ways :)!

However, HE has clearly chosen me to spend the rest of his days with and I feel quite Priveliged (sp?) that he has. I have a wonderful relationship with him and love him to bits and would definately have another one :)

Love my girlie.....soooo much character. Wouldnt swap her!!:D
