providing he's moulting and you're grooming it should come out soon enough. It's been a long wet winter with no real spring for long this year. If he's still not moulting i'd be a little more worried about cushings causing him to hold onto the winter coat.
I feed ground chasteberries - it def speeds up the shedding. My mare can be a bit fussy and they have a strong smell so I leave them in an uncovered pot and she eats them.
Hi, thank you all for the replies. Apart from a Shetland this is my first native type horse and as I had 2 horses previously with cushings I'm probably over sensitive to shaggy coats! My Welsh x Tb has had her summer coat for weeks, but Bru is mainly Sec D and still has a fair bit of winter coat - I'll keep on grooming! I'm also finding as he has feathers the midges get in and make him stamp, maybe the clippers will be coming out at some point!
