I am off to look at a local stud's ponies, we are after a quiet companion pony for my riding mare.

What if anything should I be looking for in my section a - are there any common ailmets or conformation problems I should try and avoid?

Thanks in advance

They are usually tough little sods but avoid the ones with googley eyes and very dishes faces due to some breathing issues and runny eyes.

Thanks very much, I saw a very plain faced mare in the sales and I have to be honest - even though the dishy ones are sweet, I'd take a strong plain face over that anyday!!

As has been said beware over an over dished face, not only can they breathing problems, my horse dentist was saying that they can have problems with their teeth as their heads can be too small to accommodate all the teeth.

Our sec a is slightly dished but not over exaggerated.

Other than that good luck, they are lovely little ponies
