Hi everyone!

Posted this on the breeding section but alas no replies so far :(

Question for the welsh lovers out there!

I have a lovely welsh d yearling by Thorneyside the Guvnor.
Would love to hear from anyone who has one of his offspring and how they have turned out. Temperment, height, soundness. Any successes in the show ring, jumping or dressage etc.
My fella has a fantastic personality and at a year old measures 14hh. His dam (14.1h) is very well bred and a great type but he is only her second foal.
Just want to get an idea what sort of height he might make and find out more about that line of breeding.

Thank you!

Thorneyside ponies are well known for super temperments. They excel in the showring and other disciplines. good luck with your boy.

Have a welsh sec d Rhencullen tywgog, he's coming up 4 and only 13.2hh and a very highly strung pony, bought him last year looking like a 22 year old pony, hoping that he will grow a little more in the next couple of years.

Welshie in avatar is by Thorneyside More Magic - not sure how he is related to Guvnor though!

15.3hh, nicely put together, lovely temperament (although a bit jumpy and quirky due to some interesting treatment at some previous point in his life), correct although not a fashionable stompy mover and would jump a house or die trying.

I've met a couple of Thorneyside the Guvnor offspring and I liked them very much. One was county level showing and the other was a cracking allrounder with a huge jump. Anything that goes back to Nebo Black Magic (and I admit that's a lot!) does it for me!

Another plea for pics please!

Thanks for your comments so far!

Ok I'm new to this site but have now added some pictures of my little man (fingers crossed they appear).

He has just done another growth spurt so is croup high at the mo.
Seems to be a thumbs up for the guvnor!

I love my little chap.:)

Here is a link of Merlyn playing with his giant horse ball for the first time :D

Thanks again for the feedback!

You need a photobucket account, or similar. upload your photos and then copy and paste the IMG code into the message.

In my experience Thorneyside bred cobs are big, not necessarily the biggest flashiest movers, wonderful temperaments...good old fashioned leg in each corner sort of cobs. Certainly a bloodline I would be happy to purchase from and Thorneyside the Guvnor is a very nice stamp of a cob.

The Welsh Cob's grand sire is Throneyside the Fox, I attribute his size to that :p:D

Hello. I instantly knew who you were when I read the breeding! How is Dennis? My identity clue is in the name as I was at your 2 previous yards. Extra clue Bec now teaching me on Samson!!!!!! Merlyn is a lovely stamp of D and should turn his hoof to anything.

He looks lovely. My boy is by Thorneyside the Gladiator. He's 14.3hh, calm temprament and will turn a hoof to anything. Would love to know more about the Thorneyside line if anyone can tell me or direct me to a website.

Just google Thorneyside Stud, that will tell you all you want to know. Peter Gray is a very nice man and breeds some of the nicest welsh cobs, they make lovely driving horses, full of quality and movement.

Thanks for such great feedback everyone!

As divasmum knows I've had a lovely NFxTB for the last 17years and this is my first welshy although I used to show jump a sec c stallion many moons ago.
It's nice to know the breeding is well thought of amongst those who know :)

Thanks again for all the comments.
