Hiya, my parents used to have the above breeds of dog when they were younger, and aside from the odd bull terrier Ive never really seen these breeds properly or know much about them. Does anyone have any pics and description of characteristics etc? Espec about the WSS as heard so many stories.
Ta for such a random request!

Had a WSS many years ago, came from a very well known and well respected breeder. He was a star and we did a lot of showing with him. Very wilfull though (as are most spaniels) but trainable. Went off to be a full time daddy.

Have no online pics Im afraid.

i've had two bull terriers, both of them deaf. first a male called beaumont, he was huge, smelly, slobbery, snored and on one memorable occassion swallowed a pork pie (one of the big ones) whole, passed out, and then as he came round after we'd freed it from his throat he saw the pork pie and tried to grab it agian so also incredibally stupid!! However had some redeeming features he was very loyal and good with children and other dogs.
Second called poppy AKA The Pig is a rescue and probably an overgrown minature or a minature x full size. she was three years old when we got her after being rehomed in lots of unsuitable places (one being an antiques shop - had they never heard the saying bull in a china shop?!!). She suffers from a trait passed down from a crufts champion which is triggered by mineral imbalances and causes her to chase her tail rather violently. She also has a habit of sometimes biting the first thing that moves when she wakes up from a long sleep, possibly due to bad treatment at previous homes. To solve this she sleeps in a dog crate at night which is great for deaf dogs as it gives them the security of knowing things can't sneak up on them and better for us as we can't get bitten. pig is also smelly, slobbery, snores and she is very active, she will chase sticks all day.
Finally what else can i say about them apart from their indistructability, first one had a heart murmur caused by a hole in his heart, vet said upon post mortem he shouldn't have lived past the age of four yet he had two general anasthetics (sp?

) and lived until the ripe old age of 11.Pig was hit by a ford transit, shattering her back leg so badly it had to be plated and is now 20% shorter than the other one - she was hardly lame on it. They really are built like tanks!

Sorry can't help you on the welsh springers although would love a springer x for my next dog.

Well done if you get this far time for a cuppa

I once stayed at a holiday cottage in North Wales and the owner had a Welsh Springer Spaniel which was always around. My family and I fell in love with it and shortly afterwards got our first dog - not a WSS though because we couldn't find any for sale. Not much help probably but I do think they seem nice dogs.

I used to volunteer at a welsh RSPCA. They always had loads of WSS in as they are very bouncy and active and people couldn't cope with them. Lovely dogs in the right home though.

I've only ever met one Welsh Springer Spaniel and she was incredibly laid-back, and very un-spaniel-like.

You meet the odd Bull Terrier/mini Bull Terrier around these parts, and they are such goofballs. I do worry sometimes when my small dog plays with them, as they are pretty strong and boisterous. It is crucial to extensively socialise Bull Terriers, as it is not uncommon for them to dislike other dogs.
