welsh x warmblood

We have one (kinda) - well even two if you're picky.

Our 2008 foal Max is out of a coloured WPB mare and out of the Holstein stallion El Thuder. He is fab mix of the two being a nice M/W with no feather, fab movement, etc. and is set to make about 16.1hh

My other boy is out of a Welsh x WB mare and a WB stallion. He is a good M/W, fab mover, great jumper and now at 3.5 yrs old stands about 16.1.

Both have awesome temperaments! Can post pics if you like....

I had a lovely Welsh mare x Hanovarian. Spectacular show jumper. I bred from her before she passed away and the boy is amazing.

Not quite a straight welsh x WB but our broodmare is by a warmblood out of a Welsh x Arab. She is lovely and was a very scopey jumper but unfortunately never got to prove it due to a fracture in her foot. But her foal from 08 is by a coloured WB, and this year she is in foal to my Belgium WB stallion.

Here they are!

thanks for all opinions & piccies! genrally sounds a good cross then! so money wise is it worth going for the proven stallions, De niro etc, or would it not really be worth spending that much on my welsh mare?would i be better going for a nice unproven, perhaps younger stallion, moves well, good confirmation rather than the comp record? or just spend the money and go for it?

if it was a nice foal i would def keep it and break it for myself....if it was not worth keeping it would have to be sold! so looking ideally ofr something i can keep, to do dressage, currently mare is competing elementry and has a bit of a play at everything, but obviously want something slightly bigger/and bigger paces! not sure if a crazily expensive stallon would make that much difference or not though?

If just for yourself I would tend to go for a younger but well bred stallion. Our mare went to El Thuder, whose grandsire is the dressage and SJ stallion Argentinus but he also had the likes of Nimmerdor and Ladykiller thrown in. This served to refine the mare a bit and add leg length whilst combining the dressage movement of grandsire with that of the welsh movement...this foal we got can seriously move! PLUS sire's stud fee is only around £400
