Welshy fully butt naked?

I am debating weather or not I should fully clip out my Welsh Section D. He normally has a hunter clip but this year I am thinking of taking it all off legs/feathers. Any photos would be appreciated before I get carried away with the clippers, to make sure I am not making a mistake and him ending up looking a complete mess. Don’t think I have ever seen a welshy fully butt naked. My two tbs are always fully clipped, but to take his feathers off eeekk I just cant decide. Help:confused:
 
Registered section D. Competing very successfully in dressage. Howen, he won't look a mess :) I think if you take the coat off a 'hairy' then legs and feathers have to come off too, they look like cut and shut jobs if they are particularly fluffy otherwise. I have a real thing about hairy legs wearing boots with fluff sticking out the bottom ;) (Personal thing)

Hi Howen

I show all sections of the welsh breeds, and for showing purposes, feathers should definatley not be touched. a full clip down to his elbows, possibly his knees would be ok, but a fresh clip is not acceptable for spring showing.

how ever if you do not show, then its up to you. Feathers grow back quite quickly so could always give it a try? a friend of mine on the yard has just taken her section d's feathers off, and pulled his mane, and he looks incredibly smart! she showjumps so no need to worry about the " showing preferences"

My connie is fully naked every winter as he gets mud fever on his back legs if they are left hairy. But then he also has all his tiny attempt at feathers removed all year as I prefer it. I'll see if I can find a picture.
 
Yes gorgeous horse! That would be fab S&max if you get a photo on. I have gave up with the showing mclarky so not bothered reallly. Just want to make sure he is not a laughing stock, also ive started to put tendon boots on him and they dont fit as well as I like over his feathers.

Apart from the fact he goes a manky colour I prefer that to the hairy legged look.

My full welsh D has his feathers off through the summer and he looks so much better! I usually let them grow back for the winter to keep his legs warm but if I was doing a full clip (he just has a blanket) id take them off in winter too! We do dressage and jumping so its not a problem, if they aren't show quality it really doesnt matter.
 
My Section D goes butt naked every winter too, and I take feathers off all through the summer. He has a long wavy mane and goes a delightful peach colour clipped right out :) I prefer legs off as much easier to keep mud fever at bay....unless teeny weeny feather as on TB's!! Don't know how to put a picture up....HELP please someone!!

The easiest way is to create a Photobucket account (just google the name) and upload your pics to there. Once thats done, hover over the chose pic and four labels/urls will appear below - you want the 'image' one, if you hover over it it will say 'copied' and you can then flick over to HHO and right click and paste in the image url. Make sure the photobucket ac is set so the photos are 'public' not private or we wont be able to see it!
