Does anyone have any experience with his progeny?

If so, what sort of mare does he produce the best foals with, and are there many of his progeny about?

Thank you in advance...

Loads and loads around. Progeny have a reputation for being hot, but personally I think that to the right mare he passes on rideability and elasticity (I'm not a breeder, just speaking from observations). He has a number of sons around - Wolkenstein, Welt Hit, Wie Weltmeyer to name just a few, and in this country Wurlitzer, who has produced some lovely youngstock and definitely passes on trainability, although he is quite small.

I must say i think he passes on boldness (im sure that is where my mare and filly get it from) in a nice way though and i dont find either of mine hot xxx (but he is in the 2nd Generation) X

2nd generation is better. They have a particular back end conformation that is strong but does not 'sit' that easily. They look good at the lower levels as they tend to look impressive in the trot work at the lower levels but the problems come when you ask them to collect and to put the 'reaction' in the work.
By using 2nd gen you can use the possitives and start to minimise the weaknesses.
Personally i would'nt have a 1st generation, had to many to re'train . They are 'willfull' when they decide they really dont want to kn ow and unfortunately they can do this with alarming rgularity.
Funilly enough i discussed this with a top rider the other day when we were looking at a Weltmeyer and we both had a similar veiw and experience.

There are a lot of his progeny about. Have seen some fantastic mares by him, and a friend of mine has a Weltmeyer mare who has just had the most gorgeous black filly born. The mare is very easy to work with.

He is a stallion I would use on the right mare.

I would agree with partoow, second generation Weltmeyer every time.

My farrier use to shoe him and dreaded it as it was a full days job and at least 4 people. Apparently he was a rather difficult character to deal with.

I have a lovely mare who is by West Country a Weltmeyer son based in UK.

I adore Weltmeyer and often hear he throws hot, and yet the 2 mares I rode by him where real triers and the son I had was the most perfect horse I have ever owned. He was so naturally talented towards the collected work, god he was amazing. I bought him at 3 and sadly sold him as a late 4yo as he was a gelding so could harly justify keeping him as a broodmare (although he did a bloody good job of nannying my orphan foal) and his new very amateur owner is show jumping him, went to the regionals with him this year and adores the ground he walks on.

A lot of good foals selling at the elite suctions are out of Weltmeyer mares and I would love a daughter of his in my mare herd

I have a second gen mare, by Wurlitzer. Lovely temperament & not hot at all. She was put to a Lipizana/TB mare of 15.2hh & wurlitzer is 15.3, but my mare stands a good 16.2.
