And finally it seems to be coming together!

Just did the 1.05 open speed class - single phase with a faster mpm than normal classes at 350mpm.

The course was very nicely built - flowing for those of us not racing the clock but with opportunity for a tighter line if you could cope with the more difficult turns. For me it's all about getting clears under our belt before the start of the season, and all about me not panicking to big oxers!

I've not jumped a 1.05 'cold' before, and The Hand is renowned for building big, so I was pleased not to be worried buy the height when I walked the course.

Ponio jumped beautifully, really polite, moved on when asked and kept a super rhythm all the way round to go clear - didn't even rattle a pole. I was very pleased - we did get 7 time penalties, but as it is 25mpm faster than normal classes (and than eventing times) I wasn't too bothered.

Feel like we are making progress!

Well done, great that you weren't worried by the height, sounds like you jumped a lovely clear which is all that matters, i did a speed class the other day as a warm up and had a few time faults but in my proper class! was fine for time. Glad its all coming together, nice feeling isn't it?

Well done thats really good!! I can't wait to get out and compete more this year!! There is so many junior bsja's im looking forward to going to!!

Thanks guys!

It's taken 2 years to get to this point, and a lot of blood sweat and tears, so i pleased to now actually be having fun when we SJ!

Obviously because he went so nicely, I was on my own and so have no photographic or video evidence!

Kat, I am beside my self with excitement about 2008 season!!

Aldon I think as it is bound to run and I've walked the Novice course and there is nothing horrific in it. The only thing that stops Aldon is snow!

Sounds like real progress, esp without a 'warmup' class. Well done.

Were you not tempted to do a second class while you were there though. I wished I had entered a 2nd dressage class (once we had gone to all the bother of getting there)!!

Thanks all!

Weezy - neither did I - ever! I am such a wuss about Sjing!

Fiona - no, no inclination at all, they build big there (which I have no objection to), the warm-up is a place where you risk life and limb and it blows his mind, the arena is smaller than Hartpury and the entries more expensive, therefore he will do a Newcomers next weekend at Hartpury instead! I just can't see the point in spending much money there at the moment sadly - it's such a super venue in the summer but I am in the middle of there and Hartpury and TBH Hartpury is a much more pleasant experience all round! It's the warm-up which clinches it for me TBH - I like my life!
