Went back to Old Yard today...

... and it's such a relief! I can mess around with the fences, and change all the distances if I feel like it. I can ride PF with shavings in her tail, I can ride 7 days a week if I so choose and PF was settled into a sparkly clean bed, chatting to the new boy next door.

I even told YO of Very Expensive Yard that his YM was a knob with a seriously sh:tty attitude. That was quite brave of me as (and I know this might come as a surprise to those of you familiar with my rants!

) I'm not particularly confrontational, HATE the thought of getting people into trouble, and like as peaceful a life as poss. YO agreed that YM's behaviour was not on... whether he'll actually do anything about it is a different matter, but I figure people will keep complaining and eventually he'll have to take his head out of the sand.
I even arranged to get lessons (YO is a former Olympian) in exchange for the rest of the month's livery. And he's said I can go and use the school (no doubt he'll charge me, but it is a much better school than the one at the yard)
So... things are feeling a wee bit more positive

As for telling the YO about his staff, well, Good for you! It sounds as if it is about time that someone has.

Now then, we need more Fabian gossip! How is Antifaz and what has happened with that little mare you showed us a while ago?

Hell yes! I didn't realise QUITE how irritating I would find it not having complete control of what i do with PF and how I do it... jeez... I couldn't even tack her up by myself without someone swooping to 'help'.

One of his other liveries is leaving at the end of the month for slightly different reasons. I've made her promise to complain too.

Well, Fabian kindly offered to give me a lift to the yard and we chucked all my stuff into his car and I left there and then! Antifaz is wonderful! I wish I could keep him but I can't afford him at the moment. We're going to a show this weekend. The little mare is perkier and doing really really well teaching my pupils how to ride (and stop a strong horse!!

I feel a lot less stressed, Caroline! I'd only been at the other yard a month and a half and already I wasn't looking forward to going. I didn't realise how important it is for me to have 'control' of PF's care; being able to say exactly how much she should be eating, tacking her up myself, etc. etc. Yesterday I spent more time just gazing at PF and noticing how 'smiley' she was than I have done since moving... I really enjoyed just being with her...

Can't hang around here!! Would've lost the stable if anyone had got wind of it!! Fabian (the groom) phoned me as soon as it became available (monday evening!) and yesterday morning I just went ahead. I might've stayed a bit longer at Posh Yard if I liked it even a little bit... I don't like being bossed around though!

Was at Old Yard (where Fabian and the Bossy Old Fart are) for about 2 years. Have grumbled consistently about the other liveries (who are EVIL or ignorant or cheap or all three!) the feed running out, etc. SO, at the end of June moved to Posh Expensive Yard, with a huge school, wonderful jumps and (according to someone I know who has their horse there) excellent care.
Turns out that the people at Posh Expensive Yard were control freaks and the grooms slackers, so spent a ridiculous amount of time nagging them about bedding, feed, etc. And then livery went up from Expensive to Bloody Ridiculous and apart from not liking it there couldn't afford it, but all stables at Old Yard were taken soooooooooooo decided to move to Former Instructor's Yard which is nice, but miles out of my way (and me on a motorbike in mid winter!) All arranged to move at the end of August when Fabian tells me that a stable is available again at Old Yard, so moved back yesterday.

Well, the Evil Turd doesn't know yet... I think most of the others haven't even noticed!! Probably because I was still at the yard quite a lot riding Antifreeze and teaching
