On cloud 9!!!!! After nearly giving up hope of finding the impossible step up pony for Mini Me ( who is 7 but NOT your stereotypical 7 yr old rider) , basicially looking for something super safe but forward going, good scope to take Mini eventually to jump 90's tracks, good enough for workers at high level yet can take mini hunting & xc safely...- came across one for sale by chance I liked look of.
9 yr old gelding, been there done that, only 12.2 to go clear at tatts last year, won multiple PC ODE, WH comps etc...
So off today we headed to look at Pony with Minis coach in tow & it was as close to love at first sight for mini..
Had owners child ride first him first & he just didn't put a hoof wrong.... saw pony being tacked up etc & then into arena to see him being ridden... well he was just fab!! very rhythmic etc... not strong and just happy to do his job! Owners daughter jumped him aswell in & out of arena over a big log lol - and then onto couple bigger fences ... then My nerves kicked in - Minis turn.. She was delighted to get going ... walked him for a bit just to get a feel & then good bit of trot work & don't think Ive seen her so happy.... until she asked for canter - well mini was just beaming!!!
Then jumped small x pole & owner & my coach agreed good idea to stick fence up in height - ( I was nearly vomiting at this stage lol ) & WOW they just pinged it couple of times... As far as Im concerned it didn't look like Mini had literally just been on the pony 20 mins....
After they were done jumping owner suggested Mini go to arena gate & open it herself with help from pony - off they went , mini managed to get bar open & then pony shoved gate open with his nose.... good walk around outside arena & pony was hoof perfect....
Back to stable which Mini rode him into - untacked him & then owner suggested she get on bareback & walk pony around stable - pony was just FAB!!!!!!!!

Owner wasn't open to any sort of trial which I knew pre viewing but said we could try him in different places etc..... however after mini got off he told us he wanted us to take him for couple of days as he has had to ask most kids who have tried pony to get off as parents had hyped up kids ability .... - they truely seem like the perfect match!

So can I please have some HHO vibes for a successful Trial & vetting.... preview below lol..

Sending all the positive and good luck vibes that I have left. Really hoping it all goes smoothly for you :)

[Ah thanks. Im her mum but am biased lol. In fairness today mini just gelled with pony.
. seller totaly adamant about no trial..

Until he met mini ! QUOTE=Falconers;12575439]Well I hope all works out for you. She's a fab little rider too.[/QUOTE]

Go back and ride him in his normal bit, if he needs that bit at home, what is he going to need when out and about.

Did you want him for top level working hunter?

Has he done workers? He's a cutie, and I'm sure his confo is nice- just a slightly funny angle for the photo!

Lovely, what fun! I see you are in Ireland - over there I think the 3 ring is used a lot more than here, if he didn't seem strong then it wouldn't worry me.

Lol... He arrived around 12 today... Mini wasn't allowed to go to yard until room was cleaned... Which it was in record time. Day one went amazing. Mini took him minute he was unloaded. He settled right in straight away. .
Then she walked him in hand around yard...followed by a full groom which he loved.. He let her pick out all his feet with no fuss...
She had lesson later on and all I can say was wow! He was a star.. They did some flatwork oh and we switched reins onto snaffle ring. he really has an incredible step and paces to die for! Then they did some jumping .. Meeting pretty much everything on a right stride. Then minis instructor took them down road and he didn't blink an eye.. Went past the chickens and no problem.. Then they went for a canter in a huge open space and not once did he get silly or strong..and came back to mini with a verbal woah..am delighted ... Everyone at yard has fallen in love with him already... So keeping fingers crossed tomoro goes as well.
Is he home yet? Is he home yet? Is he home yet? Is he home yet? :)

I bet this trial will fly by :)

Yay, yay and yay!!!

She has sprouted up like a weed lol... Today went fab as well so will have him vetted early next week :) he honestly hasn't put a hoof wrong and mini is totally and utterly mad about him.

Great news, he looks a super type, pleased he has settled quickly, fingers crossed for the vetting.

He really is just the closest to the perfect pony you could find!! He will take mini places for sure... Could turn his hoof to anything. Next weekend we already have a dressage and show jumping outing planned lol.
