was hoping to take Flash to a local show at the weekend, but our farrier didn't turn up and the weather was awful so I just went along to watch.

A couple of surprises really, firstly was the turnout of some of the people in the showing classes, surely nobody would believe that a horse that had apparently been dragged out of a field covered in mud, ad that a rider dressed in black joggers, trainers and a blue hoody was appropriate?? Equally there were some who had really made an effort and were a pleasure to watch, how some people kept their horses so immaculate in a field of mud is a mystery to me!

Then there was the jumping

A lot was pretty much as you'd expect for a local show, lovely to see the kids having a go and there were some really nice riders and horses out there. One however had me and many others cringing! The pony was absolutely out of control, with a rider who was yanking on her mouth whilst booting her in the sides with spurs. It was just awful. She was going round in the wet, with no studs, sliding all over the place, with her head so high in the air and jumping completely hollow, running backwards, rearing, spinning. I just wanted to hit the girl!

I truly appreciate that some horses are dificult, but I just hate people who are completely contradicting themselves and really winding up their poor horses!

Grrr that type of thing is so typical at local shows!!! Thing is the parents let there kids get away with this kind of behavour

And as for the dress, i nearly got emilinated at the weekend for having my top button undone (i was in a rush and completely forgot), god knows what would of happened if i had turned up in joggers!!! Surely you wouldn't be able to compete like that??? Unless it was a yard employee taking one of the school horses round, i have known that to happen before.

I went along to this show on Sunday to see if I could see my friend who was meant to be doing the SH and to keep a look out for you too!
It seemed a bit dismal to me, weather not great and few entries from what I could see (although it was 3pm on Sunday). I also saw someone there riding in a navy anorak, with black cord jodhs and trainers!!

Mickey, I was there at 3pm on Sunday, loitering by the showing ring! Didn't have Flash with me so wouldn't have been easily recongnisable tho! Was such a shame about the weather!

Oh how funny! Because we were standing by the show ring at the same time! The riding horse/pony class was going on and some coloureds were warming up. Shame I did not recognise/see you!!
