Went to Broadway as a spectator - it was LOVELY. What a view! Beautiful sunny weather, beautiful surroundings, masses of competitors,
it was great.

Lots of really nice horses, and generally the course didn't cause much trouble but it was interesting with many different fences. Sometimes a course is pretty boring and all the fences are the same, or ask the same question, but this was a really educational course. I think a young horse would have learned quite a lot. It was a shame that the penultimate fence, farm drays, were placed where not all the spectators would have been able to see them well, they deserved to be more prominent.

However, I feel like saying to some competitors "shorten your stirrup leathers and get your bum out of the saddle" is it only me? I was always told to keep out of the saddle unless actually riding into a fence.

Will definitely go again next season.

Broadway's beautiful - such a gorgeous setting - and we were completely spoiled with the weather yesterday! Less so for the poor souls going Sunday morning I think..!

This is one of my massive pet hates! I'm from Northern Ireland and I have to say I noticed it more on the mainland UK - however this may be due in part to the Irish tendency to 'rider her like you stole her' ;)

Sounds like a lovely event,

Yes!! I was FJing at the RC Area Arena eventing on Saturday and the XC was actually around a proper course rather than a simulated one IYSWIM, the amount of jockeys sat down for 200m or more between fences and in some cases properly bouncing in the saddle - arrghh
