Went to the saddlery at lunchtime...

...with the intention of getting some new wellies and a couple of small bits for the old mare (K is now back home from being on loan for 18 months).. well they didn't have the wellies in stock so have ordered them in but i still managed to spend £120.!! oops..

have wanted a long riding coat for ages and of course the only one in my size was a Puffa one @ £64, then i saw the waterproof gloves i was after last winter in my size so had to have them (£30).. plus a few things for K.
bit of a pointless post but i guess that the money i am 'saving' from not competing Andy has to be spent on something.!!

also for anyone who might like to advise me, am i mad thinking about taking K to a little SJ show on 14th Sept.? would only do 2ft3 and 2ft6 - how fit does a horse have to be to do this.??? (not that i am thick but A was always ridden 5/6 days a week and i have forgotten how much i used to do with K back in the days i took her to shows.!!) she is not 'super fit' not but not totally unfit, will be riding her 4 days a week, 2/3 lots of 1.5hr hack with walk trot and canter and 1/2 sessions of light schooling in field (v large circles..)

You should be fine to do a little show with your horse, she sounds as if she's perfectly fit enough

LOL - I went to the saddlery to drop off some rugs and my OH stalked me right round the shop and hustled me out the door before I could buy anything!!

Popped into feed/tack shop couple weeks ago for some fly spray. Bought a pair of £140 boots.

Week later- called in to buy a new bit for daughters pony. Bought a saddle - admitedly 2nd hand and £50 ( its v small).....but the trick is now how to open car boot in presence of OH without revealing contents of dinner-hour madness

Unfortunately there is a tack shop about 2 minutes away in the car, from where I work....so lunch hours can get quite expensive!

You nip down for one little thing that you need and end up coming out with a bags full of things you don't really need!....then you have to hide them in boot of your car so your OH doesn't notice, then sneak it into your tackroom, not use it for a few months, let it gather a bit of dust, then out it comes! lol

= OH is none the wiser, also left feeling guilty for not coming down the yard to visit your neddy and watch you ride, hence treats you to something new from your local tack shop!

Yes, I used to use that tactic, and it worked very well.....

....only now OH has gone horsey, got his own horse and is fully aware of what I've got, whats new and how much its likely to have cost..

...thats my fault for encouraging him

ha haa well I doubt there is any fear of my OH turning all horsey on me, he's convinced all horses have flea's and I doubt he's look very good in a pair of breaches with his bow legs

he's best sticking to things with an engine not something with a mind of its own!

Well, he's not fully embraced all things equestrian....the clothing for instance...he wears jeans and chaps, would'nt be seen dead in breeches, and.....believe it or not.....he has a purple helmet..
