Why do people tell lies about ponies, we went to see a really grumpy, nappy pony for leading rein.It made horrible faces as they tacked it up, we led it round without a rider and it napped to a horse in the field. In trot it zoomed off at full speed. Its feet looked like they hadn't seen a farrier in a while but his toes were VERY worn so think they had been up and down the road but said it hadn't been ridden for a while.
Do people think you are stupid.

I think people think you can get a pony, shove it on a lead rein and call it a lead rein pony. Good luck in the search, good lead rein ponies are like gold dust.

Awww..poor little thing - I bet with a bit of tlc it would cheer up

You're right though - people do try to get away with such cr*p sometimes! It makes me laugh when they say 'oh, you're riding him so nicely it's making me want to keep him' or 'if I don't sell him now I'll school him and sell him for an extra £10k' ......Yeah RIGHT!!!

My daughter thought I didn't ask them the right questions before we went [it is for my granddaughter] but they just say it is fine at everything and would be perfect. We were supposed to go on to see another in Yorkshire [ about 2 hours away] but we got up to the M1 and it was closed junc22-23 so we phoned and cancelled and turned around.Think the first pony upset us and it upset my granddaughter she just wanted to ride.Took her home and put her on our 13.2 retired saint who used to do this

but now is happy to plod round but she is a bit big.

OMG, I pity you, going through the LR pony search. We saw loads, spent a fortune on petrol and time, and saw allsorts. I think the worst i saw was a shetland that bolted thelwell style with it's young rider down a main road......
People will try and sell you anything. I learnt if they say it's 100% perfect to walk away, as NO pony is 100% perfect.
what sort of pony are you after? If it's purely LR I know of a couple, but LR onto FR are like hens teeth.

I just sold a 1st pony lead rein.... placed it on horse mart and it sold on the 5th day and the phone still rings for the pony. I would like to say that i was very honest and always showed the pony with out the child 1st. But when i was looking for a 1st pony it was a night mare...peolpe can lie and will do any thing to get rid of the pony.. shame you live a little far away as you could of come down to see him...mind you the nice peolpe who brought our pony lives in Somerset....

Looking for about 11.2 for a 2 year old who rides everyday and is very confident and we want to keep it that way.Don't want very old or crippled as think temperament is the important thing,We have a 5 year old 16 hands that she canters round on in front of her mum because it is a perfect horse[ bay in siggie]I mean it ,it is perfect. If you lost your balance it would stop and put you back on.lol.
It would have a super home, small seperate field next to big horses, warm stable every night, exercise everyday, just need to find a sweetie not a meanie

shame you're not closer to me - I have a LR pony (bit smaller than 11.2 though) who is wasted as a companion (to himself, now my horse has moved to a new yard). I bought him for my boy when he was 18 months old, he's sat on him and been led about, but he's not really that bothered at the moment and it's not easy to find shared grazing for the pony around me. The pony has been there, done it all, safe as anything but alas, fell out of the ugly tree hitting every branch on the way down

Wow, I think thats a very good price! It's even been to HOYS and got placed!

I can't stand it when people lie about horses f or sale. I sold my little 12hh driving pony last weekend, and I told them everything about him, including his weaknesses. I even told them about him being a devil pony a month ago, and hey-presto he has the perfect home

i thaught so too- i am looking for a LR for my little girl - the only minus point is that hes 11yr old which make make it a little more difficult when i would come to sell - but i think hes lovely - Nigel and Penny are really nice too.
