Went to view a pony for sale - Owners now want to loan :(

I'd let them know you'd be interested if they decide to sell in the future, then leave it at that. You may find that after a month or so with two horses they suddenly find themselves in a different mindset.
 
They can't sell it at the high price then? lol

It's not even on the open market! New horse only arrived yesterday and already I think they are finding it hard - saying that an acre of ground doesn't go very far with 3 ponies and a horse does it?!

FF - that's quite a good idea, never thought of that. I knocked over a 1/3 off the asking price in the first place as pony wasn't worth it.

God knows what I am going to do. Might keep them waiting a bit. Said I would still be interested if they didn't mess me about again.

Just FWIW, I had a pony out on a year's LWVTB. Simply to make sure the home was right for the pony and the pony was right for the home. Price was agreed and specified in the loan agreement. He's worth probably five times what we have agreed to by now that payment is due but I wouldn't dream of charging them a penny more.
