My boy came in the other night with big swollen hind, was really hot and he was down in the dumps, he had an infection, and a temp of 40!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 7 day course of anit biotics and bute sorted him out. Is it hot? Is he lame on it? I'd get the vet out as probs infection, lot of it about this time of year, change in conditions and change in ground conidtions can trigger infections. Easily solved but does need medicating!
 
I have had the same problem today, horse has swollen hind fetlock, with a bit of heat but is not lame .... so i called the vets and i have now got to go and pick up some antibiotic powders for her.
Give the vet a call and see what they say!
 
I had this with my loan TB. Turned out to be a massive abscess in his leg. Ask them about Lymphangitis, cellulitis etc. There was no visible cause for Siz's to swell up and he has just got back from 3 days in horsey hospital for it. Cost a fortune and still not out of the woods yet.
