Long story short, youngster (rising five) only had four weeks or so under harness after coming home from being broken to drive as he went lame and I decided to turn him away over the summer... More or less. He came back into work under saddle and was a right grotbag- throwing his weight about, evading, handstands, the lot (yes- great Physio and good vet, saddle checked etc etc. ;) ) so we went back to basics under saddle, and started again.

He went to his first show under saddle on the 28th December-

And was reintroduced to the long reins there..!

Last week we added a tyre, then two, then this ingenious sand flattening device so the school gets flattened out at the same time :D

he looks somewhat tense due to my moronic welshie galloping circles in their field when the carriage pulled in- Gunner did really well to keep his head while the herd careered along the fence line right beside us :D

And today out hacking he found a collected canter- lovely, balanced, came back as soon as asked and offered each lead correctly when asked- I'm a proud mummy!

Compulsory pinkness piccie ;)

Wow he looks great. Who broke him in to driving for you? As I have a Welsh Section A I want breaking in to drive and I have no idea where to send him.

Andrew can drive! saw him with a team [four in hand] of young Gelderlanders at a grass roots, I would have been in a right paddy, but he was cool as a cucumber.
Your horse looks like a superstar!

Dollyanna- I was hoping to do Dalmeny but I've heard that there's a question mark over it going ahead? We're a way of Lowther and Hopetoun, but hoping to do novice qualifiers next season, so may well be there then!!

Thank you Goldenstar- much appreciated xx

If you are looking for a grassroots event to start your season, there is an indoor at Coxhill. Details on SCDA website
