Bit of a pointless post really but I am so excited I can't concentrate on work. Me and my partner are collecting our ex battery hens that we have reserved from the rescue place tommorow afternoon. The organisation is the BHWT (Battery Hen Welfare Trust) - the link is below:

My OH has built a brilliant chicken coop and run and has made another run which attaches to the first one to make an even longer run for them. We've bought all the feeders and drinkers and feed and I've done loads of research on the internet about ex battery hens. I feel like an expectant mum! We still haven't decided on names for our three hens, although we do like Henny, Penny, Suzie, Floozie, Carrie, Oakey and Matilda. If anyone has any suggestions please suggest away. Wish us luck against the fox as this is my greatest fear

ooo how exciting been trying to persuade my OH to do the same but with little success! What about Omelette, Scrambled and poached he he

We're only getting two though - one will be called Ruby and one hasn't been named yet (mum says she will need to see her before she can decide!).

I like the name Matilda (or you could shorten it to Tilly), and Penny since one of our other hens is called Penny! Suzie is cute too.

I know, there are 80 expectant hen mummies going to this collection point tommorow all who have reserved girls. Roll on 1pm, I cant wait. Are you getting yours from the BHWT? Is it the one is Coventry? I thought the minimum you could get were three?
 
my old hen was called Henny, and she was really friendly. you could hold her.

she would crow and crow in the morning if you didn't give her a fairy cake, and if you put your cuppa down she would drink the tea! i remember one time at a BBQ, my uncle got drunk and Henny ended up drinking his beer and eating chicken drumsticks!!!!

she got eaten by a fox when the bolt came of the door of her henhouse and the fox got her
