So as some of you may know polo pony is slightly craazy lol (bucks, spins etc). So in attempt to not get bucked off and hack alone I asked grandad to lead us out the other week, yes I had a head collar and lead rope over tack and polo pony was very confused at being lead down the road, so confused in fact he actually behaved and dutifully mosied along down the road. We did this for 4/5 days, not going far, sometimes literally to the end of the street. This weekend we have gone out twice with no head collar etc, but just with grandad being at the side. And he's been behaving.
So any tips on how to progress (I'm aiming on hacking alone if you hadn't already figured) ?
Thanks. (hot chocolate and all the works, for anyone who reads and or helps :D)
xx

Well done!! Mabye get your grandad to walk behind him rather than by the side/in front of him for periods of the hack to get him more confident "leading"? Lots of praise etc when he goes without the lead and then make the periods he leads longer and longer until he will do the whole hack without someone next to him? Then go out on your own? Just an idea btw as I had a horse that didnt like hacking on his own and thats how I did it :)
